Over the weekend, Dave Van Horn led the Arkansas Razorbacks to another series win at home this season. This one was over Mississippi State and wrapped up the regular season at home for the Razorbacks.

Following that game, Van Horn praised how the team has played at home throughout the season.

“It’s been a great season at home as far as the wins and losses,” Dave Van Horn said. “Played solid. Played really good defense — played defense everywhere but we played three quarters of our games here. We’ve taken care of the ball.”

Arkansas was able to win the final home series despite two of the team’s starting pitchers over the weekend failing to get through two innings. Despite that, Arkansas has played so well at home that the Razorbacks were still able to win the series.

“Up until the last couple of weeks, we’ve done nothing but throw strikes, not walk people, strikeout hitters, but we make them earn it. That’s what happened in the fourth through the ninth, except for really [Will McEntire] came in and had one walk and two the next, but we throw strikes at Baum Stadium.”

Ultimately, Arkansas finished the regular season with a 33-3 record in home games this season. Only two of those losses came in SEC play and the Razorbacks won every home series they played this season. That includes three sweeps against SEC opponents and an unbeaten record in mid-week games.

“Baum-Walker Stadium has been a great homefield advantage for us this year,” Dave Van Horn said.

From here, Arkansas will travel to Texas A&M to finish up the regular season on the road. After that, it’s off to Hoover for the SEC Tournament. However, Arkansas could still return home if they’re selected to host a Regional in the NCAA Tournament.

Dave Van Horn on Arkansas’ rotation

One concern for Arkansas has become the starting rotation. It’s an issue that Dave Van Horn addressed following the Mississippi State series.

“That’s obviously the major concern. The win’s awesome but now we have to really figure this thing out and we’ve got some things we’re thinking about that we’ll probably make a decision if we’re going to start some different people or how we’re going to handle it,” Van Horn said.

“Probably depends on where we are in the standings and some other things. We’ve got one guy that’s been rock solid all year, and we have two guys that have struggled down the stretch here. So, we might have to make a move. We’ll see what happens.”
