The Miami Hurricanes are likely to get a commitment soon from Marshall transfer cornerback Dyoni Hill, according to Matt Zenitz of 247 Sports.

“The expectation is that popular Marshall cornerback transfer Dyoni Hill is going to transfer to Miami, sources tell @247Sports,” Zenitz posted Sunday morning. “Hill, who played under Miami DC Lance Guidry and new UM DB coach Chevis Jackson at Marshall, has been a target for several P4 teams.”

Hill spent just two seasons with the Thundering Heard after joining the team in 2022. He didn’t see much action at all his first season but exploded in his second season, recording a mammoth 55 tackles and 10 pass deflections at cornerback in 2023.

With two more years of eligibility awaiting him at his new stop in Coral Gables, Hill is a very productive and promising addition to the Hurricane secondary.

Prior to his collegiate career, Hill actually played high school football in the state of Florida at Gainesville High School, where he was a three-star recruit per the On3 Industry Rankings. He was rated the No. 1,654 overall prospect in his class, as well as the No. 144 cornerback and No. 232 player out of Florida for his cycle.

More Miami additions

Hill isn’t the only transfer expected to end up with the Hurricanes as a fellow ACC defender is also on his way to the Sunshine State.

Former Louisville linebacker Jaylin Alderman is expected to transfer to Miami for the 2024 season, On3’s Pete Nakos confirmed. He spent the past three seasons with the Cardinals and will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Alderman started 13 games this past season to finish with 58 tackles (7.5 for loss) and 1.5 sacks. His eight tackles in a 56-28 victory against Boston College marked a career high and he should have a chance to be a key contributor for the Hurricanes.

As a recruit, Alderman was a three-star prospect out of Valdosta (GA) High School. He ranked as the No. 1,253 overall player and No. 131 linebacker in the 2021 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Alderman played 13 games as a true freshman in 2021 and had the highlight of his season when he returned an interception 66 yards for the game-winning touchdown against UCF. He ended that first year with 17 tackles.

Alderman did not play in the 2022 season as he took a redshirt year.

Miami has so far brought in 12 players through the transfer portal while losing 29. The Hurricanes rank No. 24 overall and No. 6 in the ACC according to On3’s Transfer Portal Team Rankings.
