Michigan remained in the race for Monroe (N.C.) four-star safety Jordan Young when he announced his top eight schools at the end of April. The Wolverines have now locked in an official visit with the touted blue-chipper.

Young announced on Saturday afternoon that he will make his way back to Ann Arbor for an OV from June 21-23. Tennessee was previously scheduled for that weekend, but the spot now belongs to the Wolverines.

Officials to Clemson (May 31-June 2), Florida State (June 14-16), NC State (June 19-21) are also on the docket for Young, On3’s Chad Simmons reported earlier this week. Tennessee, North Carolina and Texas A&M are all expected to receive OVs as well. Young is set to announce his commitment on Oct. 10.

“There’s three or four teams that have an advantage right now,” Young told On3. “Some schools have to catch up a little bit. But those other schools that are not in it right now, they still have a chance.”

Michigan squarely in the mix for Young

Sherrone Moore and the new staff in Ann Arbor offered Young at the end of March. He visited U-M in April and was also recently visited by defensive coordinator Don Martindale and defensive backs coach Lamar Morgan at his high school in North Carolina.

“That trip made a big impact on me because I was able to get down there and see if I liked it or not and I really liked it,” Young told On3 of his visit last month. “They’re very transparent with you and I really like the place.”

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) currently gives a slight edge to Clemson, but NC State, Tennessee, FSU and Michigan are all right behind. Official visits will likely play a major factor in Young’s eventual decision this fall.

Young is the No. 38 overall prospect and No. 4 safety in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 3 player in North Carolina.

Michigan Class Breakdown

The Wolverines landed a commitment from Franklin (Mich.) Wylie E. Groves four-star interior offensive lineman Avery Gach at the beginning of the month. He became the fifth addition to a class that currently ranks No. 16 in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

Gach joined Oak Park (Ill.) Fenwick top-50 defensive lineman Nate Marshall, Fort Myers (Fla.) Bishop Verot four-star quarterback Carter Smith, Howell (Mich.) four-star defensive lineman Bobby Kanka and Alcoa (Tenn.) three-star tight end Eli Owens.

Marshall pledged to the Maize and Blue two days after the spring game in April.

“I really like Michigan,” Marshall told The Wolverine. “I like how they utilize their defensive line and have their defensive ends play out of a two-point stance, I like playing out of a two-point stance because you’re able to visualize more. They’ve also produced a lot of great players.”

Marshall is the highest-rated recruit committed to the Wolverines. He ranks No. 40 nationally in the On3 Industry Ranking and is one of two pledges ranked in the 2025 On300.
