Oregon defensive back Kodi Decambra enters NCAA Transfer Portal
Oregon defensive back Kodi Decambra officially entered the NCAA Transfer Portal on Sunday evening, according to On3’s Pete Nakos. He was a three-star prospect in the 2023 cycle.
During his freshman campaign with the Ducks, Decambra played in one game while redshirting. He made his college football debut in the team’s season opener against Portland State, playing just six defensive snaps.
A native of Hawaii, Decambra played his high school at the prestigious football factory that is Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, Nevada). The Gaels have been one of the nation’s elite high school football programs for quite some time. Decambra was named to the Under Armour All-American Game. He guided Bishop Gorman to a 13-1 record as a senior and back-to-back NIAA 5A state championship titles in 2021 and 2022. The gifted corner finished with 34 tackles, two interceptions, and three pass deflections his senior year.
He showed up against elite competition, racking up seven tackles against the Mater Dei Monarchs (California), another one of the nation’s top football programs.
As a junior in 2021, he earned second team All-Region honors from the Las Vegas Review Journal, after he guided the Gaels to a 12-1 record on their way to a state crown. Decambra ended the season with 28 tackles, two interceptions, and three pass deflections. He finished the year with multiple tackles in nine games.
As a sophomore, he recovered a fumble and returned it for a touchdown in their COVID-shortened season. As a highly touted prospect, Decambra chose the Ducks over offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Hawaii, Oregon State, Stanford, UNLV, Washington, Washington State, and UCLA.
It’ll be interesting to see if any of those teams decide to get involved in his portal recruitment this offseason.
Oregon had another remarkably successful season under Dan Lanning in Eugene. The Ducks finished with a 12-2 overall record, delivering a memorable 45-6 thrashing of the Liberty Flames in the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl. Oregon quarterback Bo Nix put together two of the greatest seasons by a quarterback in Duck football history. And he capped it off his career in grand fashion in the Fiesta Bowl. He completed 28 of 35 passes for 363 yards and five touchdowns in the blowout.
Nix etched his name in the record books in Eugene forever, finishing with 4,508 passing yards and 45 passing touchdowns this year, shattering Marcus Mariota’s records of 4,454 passing yards and 42 passing touchdowns.
