Former James Madison running back Solomon Vanhorse will transfer to Indiana in 2024, he announced Saturday via X. He will follow his former coach, Curt Cignetti, to Bloomington.

Vanhorse did not receive much playing time the past few years at James Madison. He was suspended indefinitely in September of 2021 and unfortunately suffered a season-ending injury upon returning in 2022. He appeared in only one game this past season to record one catch for seven yards.

Vanhorse had his best season as a true freshman in 2019 to rush for 382 yards and five touchdowns while adding 12 catches for 133 yards and another score. He would total just 48 carries over the next four seasons after recording 88 attempts in his first college season.

As a recruit, Vanhorse was a three-star prospect coming out of Milton High School in Alpharetta, Georgia. He ranked as the No. 2,970 overall player and No. 103 athlete in the 2018 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Solomon Vanhorse is is the 12th former James Madison player to transfer to Indiana the offseason. The Dukes are coming off of an 11-2 finish in just their second FBS season and their fifth year under Cignetti’s direction.

The Hoosiers added four other transfer running backs, including James Madison’s top two rushers from 2023, Ty’Son Lawton and Kaelon Black. Indiana has added a total of 23 transfer players this offseason to rank No. 27 overall and No. 7 in the Big Ten according to On3’s Transfer Portal Team Rankings.
