Angel Reese‘s WNBA career with the Chicago Sky begins on Wednesday in Dallas against the Wings, and the Chi-Town Barbie made sure to make a statement upon her arrival at College Park Center.

While she didn’t go with a fancy, sparkling white dress like the one she wore while attending the Met Gala on her birthday last week, she went with a more laid back look on Wednesday.

Reese is becoming a commodity of sorts in the fashion world, notably making her debut on the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue.

“Angel is combating the double standard in sports, especially for women,” Sports Illustrated Swimsuit editor in chief, MJ Day said at the time. “She is making a name for herself as a fierce competitor and an equally fierce advocate for growing the game of women’s basketball.

“Her intensity, drive and passion around being unapologetically herself and speaking up for what she believes in is helping move the needle forward for women in sports and is liberating the next generation to feel seen and heard. Our goal here is to help empower as many women as we can and we’re beyond excited to do that alongside Angel Reese in the 2023 issue.”

While she’s making a name for herself on an off the court, Reese’s appearance at the Met Gala did draw some criticism from WNBA fans, as the Sky were set to play in a preseason game the next day. Reese ended up scoring 13 points and grabbed five rebounds in a 101-53 win over the New York Liberty.

In April, Reese was selected by the Sky at No. 7 overall in the WNBA Draft after a standout career at LSU. In 2023, Reese helped the Tigers win the national title and was named the NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player. This year, the Baltimore native was named SEC Player of the Year and helped the Tigers reach the Elite Eight.

“We are absolutely thrilled we were able to get Angel at seventh overall,” Chicago Sky General Manager Jeff Pagliocca said after the draft. “That was our hope. We have another incredibly competitive player in Chicago who fits our identity and culture of the city. She is a relentless rebounder, she is a national champion and an SEC Player of the Year and we cannot wait to see her here in Chi Town.”

Now, she’ll make her debut in Dallas on Wednesday. It will air live on X.
