Brad Keselowski may have won at Chris Buescher’s expense on Sunday afternoon at Darlington, but the No. 6 wheelman is still proud of his driver for RFK Racing.

At the end of the race, Keselowski utilized Buescher’s misfortune to his advantage, as the No. 17 was raced hard by Tyler Reddick, and a collision between the two wheelmen led to both of their afternoons ending in disappointment.

Regardless, it’s not like Keselowski lucked into the win. The veteran wheelman was battling for the lead all afternoon, and he finally was able to close the deal, and end a lengthy winless streak in the process.

After the race, Keselowski was asked what advice he would give to Buescher to ease the No. 17 wheelman’s frustration, and the former NASCAR champion hit the nail on the head in the process.

“You know, Chris has his style, and it’s worked really, really well for him. I don’t think Chris needs to change a darn thing about what he does,” Keselowski said, during his post-race press conference. “It might not have worked out today, but there’s other days it works for him. It makes him what he is. It makes him special, it makes him good. I hate that he didn’t get the result out of it. There was some damage on the car, and that was holding him back a little bit, and so he wasn’t able to drive away, like you would assume a leader would do in a situation like that. But I thought he did a great job of putting himself in position, and to not get a result, I’m sure, it’s hard to stomach, and it should be hard to stomach. That’s what you want out of your driver. You want him to be upset when he doesn’t win.

“So yeah, I would say, Chris isn’t sitting in front of me now, but I would tell him, just keep being Chris. Keep doing what you do.”

Last season, Buescher’s style lent itself to multiple wins, and now the No. 17 has a legit gripe, as he could’ve won back-to-back races over the last two weeks, but he’s come away with zero trophies. That’s got to sting for Buescher.

Regardless, it’s evident Chris Buescher is becoming a staple in the Cup Series, as he’s been running better and better each week. The wins will come for the No. 17, and Brad Keselowski recognizes that in his driver.
