Kentucky running back commit Isaiah West is considered a top 500 prospect from the 2025 recruiting class. But the Wildcats will have to put in some extra work to keep him on board.

According to multiple reports, West and his parents will travel to Ohio State this weekend for an unofficial visit. Although the 5-foot-11, 210-pound ball carrier has yet to publicly announce an offer from the Buckeyes, a scholarship could certainly come this weekend. He is expected to arrive at OSU on Friday and leave on Sunday.

Ohio State running backs coach Carlos Locklyn even visited West at his school, St. Joseph’s Prep in Philadelphia, last week. St. Joseph’s Prep is the same school that Kentucky incoming freshman wide receiver David Washington Jr. hails from.

“To me they’re one of the best in college football,” West recently told On3 about Ohio State. “That’s one of the things for me I want to be part of. I want to play the best of the best at highest competition. I feel like I fit really good into their offense.”

West committed to Kentucky on March 1 over the likes of Wisconsin, Nebraska, and North Carolina. He then visited the program in late March and currently has an official visit to UK scheduled for the weekend of June 7. All that being said, his trip to Lexington could be up in the air depending on what happens in Columbus this weekend.

Ohio State does not currently have any running backs committed for the 2025 cycle. However, the Buckeyes are the current frontrunner for Top 100 prospect Jordon Davison and are among the leaders for fellow Top 100 prospect Bo Jackson (who was previously recruited by Kentucky), among others.

The Wildcats recently landed a talented running back of its own in Marquise Davis, a Top 200 prospect who chose UK over the likes of Ohio State and Michigan. The Buckeyes are expected to continue recruiting Davis moving forward.

West’s recruitment will be one to monitor once he wraps up his visit to Ohio State. If he’s ultimately offered by the Buckeyes and even schedules an official visit to return to Columbus this summer, it’ll be time to put him on flip watch.
