Former Clemson forward RJ Godfrey is returning to his home state. Godfrey has committed to Georgia after playing two seasons with the Tigers.

The Suwanee, Georgia native appeared in 36 games at Clemson this past season, finishing with a career-high 6.1 points and 3.4 rebounds per game.

He helped Clemson make a surprising run in the NCAA Tournament as the Tigers advanced to the Elite Eight before falling to Alabama.

RJ Godfrey averaged better than eight points per game during March Madness, including putting up 12 points in the loss to Alabama in the Elite Eight.

Prior to coming to Clemson, Godfrey was ranked as a three-star recruit and the No. 170 overall player in the country in the class of 2022, per the On3 Industry rankings.

He attended North Gwinnett High School where he averaged 16.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.0 blocks per game as a senior.

As a freshman at Clemson in 2023, RJ Godfrey averaged 3.2 points and 2.1 rebounds per game, while appearing in 33 contests, with one start.

Now he is joining a Georgia program that finished 20-17 last season. The Bulldogs did make a run in the NIT, advancing to the semifinals.

RJ Melendez entered the transfer portal after one season with the Bulldogs. He previously played at Illinois.

Melendez was ranked as a four-star recruit and the No. 101 overall player in the country in the class of 2021, according to the On3 Industry rankings.

He mostly came off the bench as a freshman and averaged 3.8 points and 1.7 rebounds per game across 22 games.

As a sophomore in 2022-23, RJ Melendez averaged 6 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. He played in 32 games that year, making 18 starts.

Melendez mostly came off the bench for the Bulldogs this season, starting only seven of 36 games. However, he was still one of the top scorers on the team. Now he is on the move once again.
