Following the LSU Tigers‘ gutsy 45-25 win over Florida on Saturday, Brian Kelly put the game ball once again into the hands of running back Josh Williams.

With just 14 carries, Williams had 106 rushing yards, which marked a career-high for the third-year Tiger. He also added a catch for eight yards.

“He always does it the right way, and tonight he made plays when we needed it the most,” Kelly wrote on Twitter.

Williams, a Houston, Texas native, has 229 rushing yards and three touchdowns through Week 7. He has already more than doubled his contributions from a season ago and is clearly capable of stepping up when he has the opportunities.

With a reported GPA of 3.5, Williams also got a shoutout from the Dean of the Ourso College of Business after the game.

On Saturday, the LSU Tigers head to Oxford for a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff versus the No. 7 Ole Miss Rebels. Lane Kiffin’s squad is coming off of a 48-34 win over Auburn and they remain undefeated at 7-0 going into Week 8.

Brian Kelly shares status of Jack Bech

Wide receiver Jack Bech put on street clothes after the first half of Saturday’s 45-35 win over Florida. The sophomore muffed a punt in the first half, and wasn’t seen on the field again.

After the victory, Kelly revealed what caused Bech to miss the rest of the second half.

“He has a strain in his lower back. Same injury as last week and it just tightened up again,” Kelly revealed.

Bech had not recorded a catch prior to his injury. So far this season, the sophomore has 10 catches for 81 yards and a touchdown. However, he has just two catches for 16 yards combined over the past three games. Last season, he totaled 43 catches for 489 yards and three touchdowns as a true freshman.

His miscue on special teams resulted in a touchdown for the Gators on the subsequent drive after being set up inside LSU’s red zone. The score gave Florida a short-lived 21-14 edge as the Tigers marched 75 yards on seven plays on the next drive. They took a 28-21 lead at the break and never trailed again.
