One of the biggest problems that Brian Kelly has faced early in his time at LSU is offensive line play. The unit has struggled to play consistently and they’ve been hurt by injuries there. Two of those offensive linemen who have been injured are Will Campbell and Garrett Dellinger.

Scarily, Will Campbell was hospitalized just hours before the Tennessee game. Initially, Brian Kelly said that he “had an episode.” Later, this was described as at least partially due to dehydration. Meanwhile, Garrett Dellinger had to have hand surgery and was playing with a cast on before suffering an additional knee injury in LSU’s blowout loss to Tennessee.

While speaking to the media, Brian Kelly gave updates on the health issues of Will Campbell and Garrett Dellinger.

“Good news on Will Campbell, had a major test this morning that he passed,” Brian Kelly said.

“I think he’s going to be released here [from the hospital] in the next hour or so. We’ve gone one more hurdle. We think if we pass that, which we’re confident, we’ll see what happens, that things are trending in a really positive direction for Will. So, we’re really pleased.”

From there, Brian Kelly transitioned to talk about Garrett Dellinger. Previously, Dellinger had to have hand surgery but he suffered a new injury against Tennessee.

“Garrett’s got a second-degree MCL [strain]. So, he’ll be lost for this week and most likely next week. We’re really thinking that it’s probably a two-week injury. for Garrett Dellinger.”

It sounds like LSU is going to have to find a replacement for Dellinger against Florida and Ole Miss. As for Campbell, his availability is going to be determined by passing his final tests.
