Michigan landed a recruit from the Mitten State itself on Friday.

The addition of Franklin (Mich.) Wylie E. Groves four-star interior offensive lineman Avery Gach moved the Wolverines up two spots to No. 15 in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

Michigan now ranks No. 4 in the Big Ten — behind Ohio State, USC and Oregon.

Gach is the nation’s No. 249 overall prospect, No. 19 IOL and No. 2 recruit from Michigan in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

The 6-foot-4, 270-pound Gach privately committed to U-of-M ahead of its spring game on April 20 before going public with his decision today.

“My relationship with the coaching staff I feel like it’s home,” Gach told On3. “I love the facilities. They just won the National Championship. They develop NFL players and they like to run the ball. The Michigan-Ohio state game is a game I wanted to play in.”

“It was a great moment,” Gach’s father Dave said of the spring game pledge. “I think he was really relieved it was over and found where home was.”

Gach boosts 5-man Wolverines class

The in-state standout lineman is the fifth prospect to commit to Michigan in the 2025 recruiting class. He joins Oak Parik (Ill.) Fenwick top-50 defensive lineman Nate Marshall, Fort Myers (Fla.) Bishop Verot four-star quarterback Carter Smith, Howell (Mich.) four-star defensive lineman Bobby Kanka and Alcoa (Tenn.) three-star tight end Eli Owens.

Marshall pledged to the Maize and Blue two days after the spring game in April.

“I really like Michigan,” Marshall told The Wolverine. “I like how they utilize their defensive line and have their defensive ends play out of a two-point stance, I like playing out of a two-point stance because you’re able to visualize more. They’ve also produced a lot of great players.”

Marshall is the highest-rated recruit committed to the Wolverines. He ranks No. 40 nationally in the On3 Industry Ranking and is one of two pledges ranked in the 2025 On300.
