James Franklin paid a visit to Reading (Pa.) Exeter Township four-star tight end and Penn State commit Joey Schlaffer in style Friday.

The Nittany Lions head coach hopped into a helicopter in order to see Schlaffer, which is much quicker than the approximately 2 hour and 30 minute drive to get there.

Schlaffer is the No. 443 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

The 2023 On300 ranking has Schlaffer as the No. 283 prospect in the country. Reading (Pa.) Wyomissing five-star interior offensive lineman Jven Williams and Philadelphia Roman Catholic four-star defensive lineman Jameial Lyons as the two recruits ranked ahead of Schlaffer.

All three are committed to Penn State.

He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $15.3k. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
