Elite 2025 CB Tarrion Grant commits to Purdue: 'I love the environment there'
Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Siegel four-star cornerback Tarrion Grant still has almost a year until he can sign with a school, but he’s ready to take his name off the board.
The dynamic defensive playmaker has amassed more than 20 offers, but one school has been in front for some time. And on Sunday, he committed there, choosing Purdue over LSU, Oregon, Virginia Tech and Louisville.
“They have known for over a month of my decision,” he told On3. “It just felt right for a long time now. They love me as a person and a player, and they believe in me and what I can do. They have done a great job talking with my mom and dad every day, too. The relationships I have with them are strong, but they are close to my mom and dad, and it’s felt right for a while.”
Grant has been up to West Lafayette a few times since Purdue started recruiting him last spring. And it checks all the boxes, from team atmosphere to the environment to the coaching staff.
“I have been there two or three times and I love the environment every time,” he said. “I was there early in the season for the Syracuse game, and everything was right. I knew then that Purdue is where I wanted to go. The connection, the relationship and the atmosphere felt right. They have been the top school since that visit.”

Connection with Sam Carter was key for Grant
No school has been in contact with Grant more or recruited him harder than the Boilermakers. That’s been led by cornerbacks coach Sam Carter, who first started recruiting Grant when he was at Ole Miss.
That connection has only grown strong, and Grant believes he is the coach who can get him where he wants to go.
“Coach Ryan Walters and Coach Sam Carter recruit me and communicate with me,” he said. “They have been consistent, and I have been with Carter since day one. It started with him when he was at Ole Miss, and we just have that type of relationship. I know I want to play for him, and he is a coach that can develop me as a player and help me as a person.”
The 6-foot-4, 175-pound Grant ranks as the nation’s No. 36 overall recruit in the 2025 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
