Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese attended the Met Gala on her birthday, but it was met with some criticism.

It was ahead of a preseason game, seen as crucial to her professional development. However, Reese is a woman of many talents and happened to attend the gala and play the next day.

She responded to any critics on social media.

“(So) now yall can delete them drafts & tweets saying i shouldn’t have gone to the met gala & i can’t do both,” Reese wrote on Twitter with pictures of her at the gala as well as at the game. “I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS ME (Smiling emoji).”

Reese scored 13 points and grabbed five rebounds in a 101-53 win over the New York Liberty Tuesday.

The 2024 Met Gala was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and celebrated the Costume Institute’s new exhibition, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” according to Vogue. It’s a charity event and fundraiser, and this year’s hosts were Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, and Chris Hemsworth.

Reese was the No. 7 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft out of LSU. She joined No. 3 overall pick Kamilla Cardoso (South Carolina) for quite the rookie class in Chicago.

If Reese’s college career is any indication, plus the positive numbers she put up in the preseason so far, her WNBA career should be quite successful.

Reese helped lead LSU to a national championship in the 2022-23 season and returned looking to run it back this past year. Unfortunately, the Tigers fell short to Iowa in the Elite Eight as Reese did all she could to finish with 17 points, 20 rebounds, four assists and three blocks.

In the 2023-24 season, Reese averaged 18.6 points, 13.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.9 steals per game while shooting 47.1% from the floor. For her efforts, Reese was named the 2024 SEC Player of the Year.

The Baltimore native’s junior season was even more impressive. In Reese’s first year in Baton Rouge, she averaged career-highs of 23.0 points, 15.4 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per contest while shooting 52.5% from the floor.

Reese sent waves through the women’s basketball world, earning First-Team All-American honors and being named the 2023 Final Four Most Outstanding Player after guiding LSU to a national championship.
