Teams across the country are trying to solidify their resumes for the postseason, and every single game is now important. This weekend, the action across college baseball was full of upsets in a wild week, leading to many changes headlined by a new No. 1 in D1Baseball’s latest top 25 rankings.

Over the weekend, we had four matchups between top 25 teams. Ultimately, eight ranked teams lost a series with six rubber games heading into the day on Sunday.

The four top 25 matchups will have serious impacts on not only the rankings today, but the postseason picture. Those series were No. 2 Arkansas at No. 8 Kentucky, No. 20 NC State at No. 7 Florida State, No. 23 Alabama at No. 16 Mississippi State, and No. 17 Vanderbilt at No. 19 Georgia.

Here is a full look at D1Baseball’s latest top 25 rankings on Monday morning. There are quite a few changes from top to bottom.

1. Tennessee

Tennessee began its week on the wrong foot, falling 9-6 in a midweek game against Lipscomb. They then took on Florida in Gainesville over the weekend, beginning with a doubleheader that the two teams split. The Vols won the opener 6-2 before the Gators evened the series with a 4-3 win. In Saturday’s series finale, Tennessee dominated in a 16-3 blowout to take the series.

2. Clemson

Clemson is battling for the top spot in the ACC, and this weekend was an important one for them. The series against Georgia Tech began with a doubleheader, with the Tigers taking the opener 11-4 and the Yellow Jackets taking the second game 14-12. That set up a pretty important rubber game on Sunday for both teams, where Clemson prevailed with a 9-3 victory to take the series.

3. Texas A&M

Overall Record: 40-8 (16-8 in SEC)

For the first time in a long time, Texas A&M isn’t sitting in the top spot of D1Baseball’s top 25 rankings. The Aggies won 10-6 in a midweek game against Tarleton to begin their week, but then dropped their weekend series in Baton Rouge against LSU. Both of the first two games ended with LSU winning 6-4, stunning Texas A&M a bit. They were looking to avoid the sweep on Sunday, and did just that by winning 14-4 in a strong end to a disappointing weekend.

4. Kentucky

Overall Record: 35-10 (18-6 in SEC)

Kentucky has been a top ten staple for weeks now in D1Baseball’s top 25 rankings, and the Wildcats keep playing in big series. This weekend, it was back at home against No. 2 Arkansas. The two teams split the first two games, with Arkansas winning the opener 10-3 and Kentucky taking the second game 11-3. Sunday’s rubber game had big implications on this week’s rankings, and Kentucky came away with the massive 7-4 win.

5. Arkansas

Arkansas’ week began with a two-game midweek series against Missouri State, and they won both behind 12-7 and 8-5 victories. The Razorbacks then battled in Lexington against No. 8 Kentucky in an enormous series. After winning 10-3 in the opener, Arkansas fell in the second game 11-3. That set up a massive rubber game on Sunday, where the Razorbacks fell 7-4 to lose the series.

ECU surged into the top five in D1Baseball’s top 25 rankings last week, and then got the chance to rest up with no midweek games to begin the week. They hosted USF over the weekend, and won 11-1 in the opener before Saturday’s game was postponed. That set up a doubleheader on Sunday, where ECU won 8-5 in the first game before falling 5-4 in a tight finale to fall just short of a sweep.

After taking last weekend’s series against Oregon, Oregon State fell to the Ducks 9-5 on Tuesday to begin the week. They then traveled to Washington State to play over the weekend, and it was a tight series. The Beavers won 2-1 in the opener before falling 10-9 to set up a rubber game on Sunday with the series on the line. There, Oregon State picked up a 10-6 victory to win the series.

8. Florida State

Florida State did not have a midweek game this week and hosted No. 20 NC State over the weekend. The Seminoles lost 8-7 in the opener, and weather resulted in the cancelation of Saturday’s game. That left just one more game to be played on Sunday, where Florida State won 8-1 to secure a series split.

9. Duke

Overall Record: 32-14 (14-10 in ACC)

Duke was one of a few teams from the ACC that enjoyed a light week of action this week. The Blue Devils had no midweek games and did not play on Friday or Saturday, instead playing a scheduled doubleheader against Longwood on Sunday. There, Duke earned yet another blowout victory by winning 11-1.

Virginia was not in action over the weekend, and just had a pair of midweek games on this week’s slate. The first was an 8-4 victory at VCU, with the second coming as a 10-0 victory back at home against Navy. Still, even with the light week, Virginia finds themselves moving up in D1Baseball’s top 25 rankings again.
