Baylor basketball transfer Caleb Lohner is not only changing schools but also sports. Lohner announced on Monday that he has committed to Utah to play football.

“I’m very excited and grateful to announce my commitment to play football at the University of Utah,” Caleb Lohner posted in a statement on Twitter. “This presents a unique opportunity to potentially contribute on the court, as well. I look forward to embracing the challenge and privilege to represent the Utes with pride.”

As Lohner said, he could still play basketball for Utah, too.

Lohner started his career at BYU, before transferring to Baylor. He spent a pair of seasons with the Cougars, with his best year coming in 2021-22. That season, Lohner started 31 of 35 games he played in, averaging 7 points and 6.4 rebounds per game.

The Texas native then transferred to Baylor. He appeared in 34 games in 2022-23, averaging 3.2 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. This past season, Lohner averaged 2.4 points and 2.3 rebounds per game, before entering the transfer portal.

He is now set to play football and potentially basketball at Utah. He is listed at 6-foot-8, 235 pounds. It will be interesting to see what the transition to football is like for him.

Miami transfer Norchad Omier commits to Baylor

While a former Baylor player in Caleb Lohner is off to Utah, the Baylor basketball program did recently add an impact transfer.

Former Miami star Norchad Omier has committed to the Bears.

He made the announcement on social media on Sunday.

“Thank you to everyone that took the time to reach out to me during this process. This was one of the most difficult decisions of my life. I want to give a special thanks to my parents, mentors, teammates, and the entire staff at the University of Miami for helping me get to this point. I will forever cherish the memories I made there and wish everything there nothing but the best! Lastly, I want to thank God for the talent and ability I have been given, as without Him I would not be where I am today.

“I have taken the last few days to reflect, watch film, pray, and discuss everything with my family. After taking this all into account, all signs have led me in this direction and I am at peace with my decision,” Omier wrote. “With that being said, I have decided to commit to Baylor University and can’t wait to achieve those dreams together over the next year. Go BU and Sic’Em Bears!”
