Iowa Colony, Texas – The Iowa Colony Pioneers are one of the up and coming programs in the state of Texas.

And college coaches are taking notice after a 12-1 season in year two of varsity football without a senior on the team.

The Pioneers currently have four players with Power 5 offers in the program with that number expected to grow during the spring evaluation period.

On3 stopped by the Houston area school Wednesday to watch athletic period workout and get the latest.

Freshman quarterback has Power 5 offer, Texas invite

Freshman quarterback Carson White is already a hit with college coaches. The 6-foot-0.5, 180-pounder with 9.75 inch hand, strong arm and athleticism was offered by SMU in December after watching an athletic period throwing session.

“When my coach told me, I didn’t believe him,” White told On3 Tuesday. “I just thank God for blessing me with what he gave me.”

Along with the offer from SMU, White is already receiving interest from a number of Power 5 schools. One of those is Texas. The Longhorns invited the 2027 prospect to Junior Day.

“Texas was by the school and told my coaches that they like my film. And they told my coaches that they wanted me to come up.”

One of those coaches is White’s father, who is on staff at Iowa Colony. His father, Carnel White, was an All-Conference running back at Texas Southern. White’s mother played volleyball at Lamar University.

While completed 102 of 181 passes for 1,611 yards with 17 TD’s (3 INT’s) in 2023. He added 559 yards and 11 TD’s on the ground.

White is also a very high level baseball player that is even more highly thought of on the diamond at this age.

Christopher Johnson has a Baylor offer

The 6-foot-3, 240-pound defensive lineman has an offer from the Baylor Bears, and interest from a number of Power 5 programs.

“I went to a camp up there, and they offered me,” Johnson said Wednesday. “I went to a couple of games this year too. I’m going to Baylor for a visit January 23rd.”

One other program recently extended a Junior Day invite when Texas area recruiter Blake Gideon stopped by Iowa Colony High prior to Christmas break.

“I have Texas on January 20th.”

Johnson is also receiving interest from Houston.

Johnson posted 59 tackles, 18 tackles for loss and eight sacks in 2023 earning All-District honors. He also threw the shot put 43’1″ in the spring of his sophomore year.

Two Power 5 prospects at wide receiver

Junior Antoine Martin Jr. is the headliner. The 6-foot, 175-pounder has a Texas Tech offer, and is also getting looks from Baylor and Texas. Martin told On3 Wednesday he plans to attend Texas Junior Day January 20 after receiving an invite.

Martin hauled in 27 passes for 529 yards and nine touchdowns as a junior.

Iowa Colony is in the rich get richer stage with the growth of housing developments all around the high school. Freshman (2027) wide receiver Aden Starling moved to Iowa Colony during the Christmas Holidays from nearby Pearland (Shadow Creek High). The 6-foot-2, 170-pound receiver with a large catch radius already has offers from Maryland and Hawaii.
