WATCH: Cade York hits game-winning field goal in closing seconds against the Panthers
Cleveland rookie, and former LSU Tiger, Cade York came up big for the Browns in his first game hitting a game-winning, 58-yard field goal. The Browns were down 24-23 to the Carolina Panthers with eight seconds left to go when they called on York in the game’s biggest moment.

York’s game-winner capped off an amazing performance in his regular season debut. York went four for four on his kicks in week 1, nailing all of his extra point attempts and hitting all of his field goal attempts from a variety of distances.
York’s field goals and extra points contributed 14 points for the Browns in there 26-24 win over the Panthers, and it may be early, but it looks like Cleveland may have found their kicker of the future.

York picked up right where he left off in his college career, as he was dominant during his time at LSU. York was ranked the No. 3 kicker in the nation out of high school in his 2019 class according to On3 Consensus as a prospect out of Prosper, Texas.
York had a breakout freshman season for the Tigers and was a key part of their 2019 National Championship run, leading the nations in extra point attempts and makes, attempting 93 tries and making 87 of them. York was a huge compliment to one of the best offensive attacks in the nation that season, making 21 of his 27 field goal attempts and finishing the year second in the country in scoring with 152 points.
York would go on to elevate his play even more in his sophomore and junior seasons, cleaning up his extra point percentage to 100% in both years and making a substantial amount of 50-plus yard kicks, hitting 15 of them in his career. He ended his career as one of the Tiger’s best kickers ever, holding many records including the longest field goal in school history with a 57-yarder to beat No. 6 Florida, 37-34 in foggy conditions.
York opted to forgo his senior season, entering the 2022 NFL draft, where he was selected in the fourth round by the Cleveland Browns with the 124 overall pick. He definitely started off his career on the right foot, and will be a household name for years to come in Cleveland if he keeps up his consistent, clutch play.
