Odell Beckham Jr. is a free agent no longer. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Beckham agreed to a contract with the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.

The deal is reportedly for one season and worth up to $18 million. Of that number, $15 million is wrapped up in the signing bonus and base salary while the remaining $3 million is incentive-based.

The signing puts an end to speculation on where Beckham will play in 2023 after he sat out the entire 2022 season after suffering a torn ACL in the Super Bowl in 2021. The receiver was a key part of the Los Angeles Rams’ playoff run that postseason as he racked up 21 catches for 288 yards and two touchdowns before getting hurt. Prior to that, he posted back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in 2018 and 2019.

Beckham should step in immediately as a top option for a Ravens receiving corps that lacked options in 2022. Tight end Mark Andrews led the team with 847 yards and five touchdowns, but other than that, no player on the team surpassed 500 yards.

The signing should also send a message to quarterback Lamar Jackson, who is still working with the Ravens on a new contract. Jackson should now feel more confident in the weapons around him with Beckham added to the fold.

In four seasons with Jackson as the starter, Baltimore has yet to make it past the Divisional Round of the playoffs. The Ravens finished 10-7 this past season and lost in the Wildcard to AFC North rival Cincinnati as Jackson missed the final six games of the year with a PCL injury.

If Jackson and Beckham both return healthy in 2023, Baltimore should have a chance at a deep playoff run.

Injuries a concern for Odell Beckham in recent seasons

With three Pro Bowl appearances and five 1,000-yard seasons under his belt, Beckham clearly has elite talent. However, injuries have made a struggle for him to stay on the field in recent years.

Beckham has not played a full season since 2019 and is coming off of a torn ACL. At 30 years old, watching his health this upcoming season will be a big priority.

But as we saw in his brief tenure with the Rams, he can still make a big impact when he does play. That’s what the Ravens will hope to get out of him as they have their eye on a Super Bowl next year.
