One of the premier junior-college defensive linemen has joined forces with the Gators.

Brien Taylor, who straps up the pads for Houston (Texas) Blinn Community College, just announced his commitment to Florida after taking an official visit this weekend.

Outside linebackers coach Mike Peterson and defensive line assistant Kali James Jr. helped seal the deal.

According to the On3 Junior-College Industry Ranking, the 6-foot-5, 290-pound Taylor is the No. 14 prospect overall and No. 4-ranked defensive lineman.

Additional offers on the table for Taylor include Georgia, Tennessee, Auburn, Oregon, Ole Miss and TCU.

““The culture. Everyone comes different out there. The whole town is invested into that Gator football and I’m ready to contribute to a rebuild,” Taylor told On3’s Hayes Fawcett about his commitment.

“Even after coach Spencer was let go, they pushed even harder to make sure I knew I was still a priority and everything was real from the jump. They like folks like me. I have never had anything handed to me; I go get what I want.”

Another major appeal for the Lone Star State native is the opportunity to play early.

“I have the opportunity to make an instant impact,” Taylor previously told GO. “I got everything I need. I’ll be practicing against the best players to be able to get to the next level. I would be part of the rebuild, so stuff like that.”

A 2020 graduate of Cypress Falls (Texas) High, Taylor graduates in December and will have three years to play two seasons. He is commitment No. 20 in a Gators recruiting class thank ranks fifth nationally.
