When Cody Fueger logs online, the Big Blue Nation knows that good news is on the way.

Fueger, now an assistant coach at Kentucky after following Mark Pope to Lexington from BYU, hasn’t made any public appearances since taking the job, but the fanbase already loves him. And how could they not? Fueger teases the BBN with incoming commitments just hours before they actually happen, adding even more fuel to a fired-up group of fans still hungry for good news.

It’s gotten to the point where Kentucky supporters are waiting on pins and needles for Fueger to drop a “Boom” GIF on social media. He’s done it three times now over the last few days, and the result has been three commitments for the Wildcats. I used to only have post notifications on for breaking news folks (“Woj Bombs” give me life), but now I have them on for an assistant coach.

Mark Stoops and the football team have “Yahtzee”. Mark Pope and the basketball team now have “Boom”.

Fueger’s first “Boom” post came on Saturday, April 27 at 9:00 a.m. EST sharp in the form of a Denzel Washington GIF. A few hours later, Oklahoma transfer Otega Oweh announced his commitment to Kentucky. Fueger’s post currently has over 3,000 likes. But he was only just getting started, bro.

The next “Boom” came a day later on Sunday, April 28, just a little bit after 6:00 p.m. EST. Fueger broke out Jon Stewart spinning in a chair for his second commitment tease. A little over two hours later, Wake Forest transfer Andrew Carr was a ‘Cat after a weekend-long visit to Lexington. The post currently has over 3,700 likes.

By now, the BBN was tuned into Fueger’s account, anxiously awaiting another GIF. They wouldn’t have to sit long, either…

Fueger got a bit more creative for GIF number three, which he dropped on Tuesday morning a little after 9:30 a.m. EST. Danny McBride’s Eastbound & Down (a hilarious show, by the way) character, Kenny Powers, whipped out the double finger guns in this quick GIF.

We didn’t know it at the time (and we’re only assuming that Fueger did this on purpose), but the finger guns should have been a sign for the BBN. Why? Because the commitment for this GIF wound up being Brandon Garrison, who transferred over from the Oklahoma State COWBOYS. Garrison’s announcement came at 10:30 a.m. EST, just under an hour after Furger’s post. That post has over 3,700 likes (and counting).

If you aren’t already following Fueger on X/Twitter, you might want to do that now. He could drop another GIF at any moment…

BOOM.
