Not only is Kenny Brooks quickly assembling a roster that expects to be competitive in 2024-25 (although more work is still to be done), but he’s also quickly filling out his coaching staff for his first run in Lexington.

On Tuesday, Brooks officially added the third piece to his staff for the upcoming season, bringing over Tim Clark from Virginia Tech to serve as Kentucky women’s basketball’s special assistant and chief of staff.

“I am incredibly thankful to Coach Brooks, Mitch Barnhart and the entire University of Kentucky athletics administration for this amazing opportunity,” Clark said in UK’s press release. “The rich basketball history and passionate fan base in the state of Kentucky are unrivaled. I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of Big Blue Nation. Go Cats!”

Clark has been a member of Brooks’ staff in some capacity for 19 seasons, including 11 at James Madison and the previous eight at Virginia Tech. He spent the last two seasons as Brooks’ senior director and chief of staff for the Hokies.

Along with Clark, Brooks has also added associate head coach Lindsey Hicks and assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Radvile Autukaite — both of whom came over from Virginia Tech, as well.

Clark graduated from James Madison in 2009 and then completed his master’s in kinesiology with a concentration in sport & recreation leadership in 2011. He got his start on Brooks’ staff as a student manager from 2006-09 before making the leap to graduate assistant (2009-10) and eventually director of operations (2011-16).

“He’s been with me — I’ll say his age, he’s 37 — he’s been with me for almost 20 years of his life,” Brooks said during his debut appearance Monday night on the Kenny Brooks Show. “He was my manager when he was at James Madison. I hired him into a similar role at James Madison, he came with me to Virginia Tech, he’s been my guy at Virginia Tech and he followed me here to Kentucky. He knows me as well as my wife knows me.

After his stint at James Madison, Clark joined Brooks at Virginia Tech. He served as the program’s director of operations from 2017-22 before sliding into senior director and chief of staff beginning with the 2022-23 season. According to UK, Clark was in charge of the following while with the Hokies:

  • directing all day-to-day operations
  • game schedule prospecting
  • contract management
  • coordinating team travel logistics
  • overseeing the program’s budget
  • serving as a liaison to the Hokie Hardwood Club and several other departments within the athletic department and university
