LSU OL Jo Cryer enters NCAA Transfer Portal
LSU Tigers offensive lineman Joseph Cryer has entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to Peke Nakos of On3 on Tuesday. Cryer enrolled early with the Tigers, but is now on the move after spring practice.
LSU flipped Cryer from Ole Miss during the recruiting process, keeping him in-state, but now he’s moving on. LSU’s been in a scholarship crunch with transfers coming into the program.
Cryer played his high school football at Natchitoches Central (La.), where he was the No. 68 interior offensive lineman in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Wherever Cryer goes, he’ll bring a physical brand of football into the mix, according to On3 national scout Cody Bellaire.
“Joseph Cryer is an ass-kicker. Plain and simple,” Bellaire said. “He is one of the simpler projections when it comes to his future because the measurables aren’t glistening, but when you put the ball down and line it up you know exactly what you’re getting from him.
“Cryer projects to the interior offensive line at the next level and he plays with a mean streak on every snap. Tenacious would be an understatement as he looks to bury defenders consistently loading up the stat sheet with pancakes. He’s an enforcer in the run game that wins with raw power and grit.
“In the passing game he is constantly looking for work if unmarked and willing to blindside defenders to assist his fellow linemen. He lacks ideal length and has a limited frame in order to project to the NFL, but if you are looking for a player at the college level who can make his presence felt at the line of scrimmage and win the leverage battle in order to move humans, he’s your guy.”
