Jhop Predicts: Ducks to Land Coveted DB Transfer

Dan Lanning has not missed on many of his top targets. A few, but not many.

It would appear Oregon is close to closing on yet another key piece from the transfer portal. Oregon is expected to host former Washington cornerback Jabbar Muhammad later this week. The 5-foot-10, 180-pounder is one of the most coveted prospects in the transfer portal currently.

Last week a prediction was made on On3 in favor of Texas for Muhammad. The prediction was made as a visit in Austin concluded by a Texas insider. At the time it wasn’t hard to believe a kid from Texas (Desoto) on a visit to Texas might want to transfer there. Still as the prediction was made, I cautioned Oregon fans to relax.

As you’ll recall, last week the Eugene area was under a sheet of ice with large portions of the area without power at times. I’m sure you can expect those aren’t ideal conditions to bring in recruits. Those conditions might have been a favor to Oregon giving them a viable reason to push for a visit this week instead. After Muhammad had visited Texas and Alabama.

This morning I made a prediction for Oregon with 70% confidence. Since entering the portal I have suggested Oregon would be a major player in his recruitment with Texas likely the biggest threat. Ahead of his trip to Eugene this very much feels like a target Dan Lanning will not let get away easily.

Additionally I think Oregon is a better fit academically for Muhammad as the credits and timing line up more favorably for a transfer.

Muhammad could be a key piece for the Ducks defense with cornerback Jahlil Florence currently rehabbing after surgery. The details of his timetable for a return are unclear at this time.

For now it looks like Lanning might have an answer and is poised to add another massive piece from the transfer portal.
