How Colorado transfer Jaden Milliner-Jones fits into SMU defense

As SMU football nears its first season competing in the ACC, On the Pony Express will break down the transfer classes of every team in the conference.

The series continues with Clemson, currently ranked No. 16 out of 17 teams in the ACC.

The Tigers just don’t utilize the portal much if at all, like so far this year. They didn’t add anyone until 2021 when they brought in one transfer for each of the next three years.

They lose 12 players to the transfer portal and add none. That gives Clemson a -17 Index Score in the On3’s Team Transfer Portal Index.

While there are no transfer additions, it is important to not that Clemson had the No. 14 high school class. The Tigers bring in two five stars, 10 four stars and nine three stars.

Key Losses

Clemson is losing six players who were four-star prospects out of high school, two of which are keeping their four-star ratings as transfers — cornerback Toriano Pride and safety Andrew Mubuka. Both are returning home. Pride, a St. Louis native, is heading to Missouri while Austin LBJ product Mubuka will suit up for Texas.

Mubuka played in 35 games with 31 starts at Clemson, including all 10 he played in this past season.

Wide receiver Beaux Collins, offensive tackles Mitchell Mayes and Zechariah Owens and edge David Ojiegbe are the other four-star recruits.

Collins played in 32 games with 27 starts, including all 11 games he played this past season. Mayes played in 32 games with nine starts, including five this past season.

Others with significant time leaving the Tigers are Brannon Spector who played in 38 games with six starts and Sage Ennis who played in 41 games with two starts.
