Ranking the top players that entered the transfer portal on Tuesday

March 12 is the date players are able to enter the transfer portal without penalty. However, graduate transfers are able to transfer once their season is over. Monday was the first real day we saw some traction with the transfer portal picking up. While it felt like much more, in all, nine players actually submitted their names into the transfer portal.

To get ahead of things, I wanted to rank the top players who entered the transfer portal on Tuesday, March 7. It should be reiterated only graduate transfers entered the portal.

1. Chris Ledlum (Harvard)

Height/weight: 6-6/225
High School: Gill (MA) Northfield Mount Herman

2022-23 stats: 18.8 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.1 blocks, 1.8 steals, 55.8% FG

Notes: Chris Ledlum is originally from Brooklyn, New York, and played for the New York Jayhawks program. He chose Harvard over the likes of Pittsburgh, Florida, Notre Dame, and others. Ledlum finished second in the Ivy League in points and steals while leading the conference in rebounds.

On3 reported on Wednesday morning that Kentucky, UCLA, Ohio State, Xavier, Indiana, Maryland, Florida, and others have been in contact.

2. Idan Tretout (Harvard)

Height/weight: 6-4/200
High school: Wilbraham (MA) Wilbraham and Monson

2022-23 stats: 9.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 43.3% FG, 36.7% 3P

Notes: Idan Tretout is originally from Brooklyn, New York, and played for the New Heights NYC travel program. He chose Harvard over other offers that included UMass, Saint Joseph’s, Wake Forest, and others.

On3 reported on Wednesday morning that Iowa State, St. Joseph’s, Loyola-Chicago, Rice, and more have been in contact.

3. Messiah Jones (Wofford)

Height/weight: 6-6/220
High school: Chicago (IL) Simeon

2022-23 stats: 9.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, 58.9% FG

Notes: Messiah Jones is originally from Chicago, Illinois, and played for the Meanstreets program on Nike’s EYBL Circuit. Jones originally committed to Drake, then de-committed and committed to Wofford. Jones has started 57 of 58 games over the last three seasons.
