Dallas Cowboys stars sound off on NFL referees after Patriots win

An exhilarating game ended with the Dallas Cowboys standing tall over the New England Patriots in Foxboro. However, some of the Cowboys stars believe they didn’t just have to beat New England — they had to withstand the referees as well.

First, running back Ezekiel Elliott told The Athletic’s Jon Machota that it was “ridiculous” the way the game was officiated.

“There’s no excuse for that. That’s ridiculous the way they called that game,” stated Elliott. “We were able to overcome the Patriots and the zebras.”

During the victory, Elliott was dangerous as ever. The Cowboys running back ran for 69 yards, also catching seven passes for 50 yards.

Moreover, Elliott wasn’t the only star on the Cowboys to disparage the officiating. On the defensive side of the ball, defensive end Randy Gregory couldn’t bite his tounge.

“I thought it was a poorly called game by the refs, if I want to be honest,” Gregory told Machota. “But you got to fight through it.”

This season, Gregory has been an absolute force. He terrorized Mac Jones on Sunday, but the Patriots offense still found ways to put points on the board.

It’s been a running joke that the Patriots get some home cooking from the officials in New England, but it’s evident the Cowboys are taking it to heart. Still, they found a way to get an exciting victory in overtime.

Coming up, the Cowboys have a much needed bye week to regroup and reload. Then, they play the Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos and Atlanta Falcons in three very winnable games.

Already at 5-1, the Cowboys could be on their way to running away with the NFC East. As the Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Football Team and New York Giants twirl in mediocrity, Dallas enjoys a fantastic run.
