If those schools are located east of charlotte, and say, Greensboro, I would call them what they are...EASTERN teams. To suggest otherwise is attempting to redefine compass points. Greensboro is not in the west either.

look at the map of NC and the location of Charlotte, and you will see there is much more of NC east of Charlotte than west of Charlotte. its very easy to see.
OK. But you cant call them eastern. You would have to divide the state in three. Western - Central - Eastern. Because you can't seriously think Charlotte is the center of the state....can you???
Before the games were played in the large venues Greensboro was considered the divide between eastern teams and Western teams. There are still a lot of football fans who remember those days. I feel that's some of the reason for some of back and forth for east, west divide now.

Don’t know if this has been asked, but has there ever been a title game where both teams had the same mascot?

Team was supposed to leave at 8 AM. They'll be on main roads so as long as they get treated tonight they should be good to go. But the kids getting to the school may be an issue but I'm sure arrangements have been made.

Beamer, rite now the snow is snow line is barely west of the C'hill . If the temps stay low there could be more snow than the 5' to 8'. If you got an app like my radar the precipitation is coming from the gulf of Mexico and it doesn't look like it's letting up We haven't been this wet down here in four months. When the gulf cranks up it can last for days.
Hibriten actually cancelled the team dinner that was scheduled for 5:30 tonight.... Plans are still to be at school at 8 and pull out around 8:30-8:45 with police escort to county line.... We might need a snow plow instead

Technically, the geographical center of NC is 10 miles northwest of Sanford near the community of Gulf. As far as the schools spread out over the state for seeding purposes, yes I would say Charlotte schools should fairly be placed in the WEST, but that is where the line should be drawn. Any east of the general Charlotte area is EAST as far as I am concerned. The exact line is subject to debate, but it sure isnt anywhere near Fayetteville.
