Read somewhere that the WVU game this weekend will be the 12th of the last 18 conference games that OU has played that started at 11am. That is a little ridiculous.

I guess I can see why Bob, Joe and David are a little hot under the collar, not to mention the city of Norman's merchants.

I know,,,sorry for yet another "11am" thread.

I get why people are upset because of the lack of exposure, decreased viewership and loss of prestige that the 11 a.m. games present, I like the early starts and have gotten used to scheduling my entire day around the early kickoff.

Back in the day, you were lucky if you got to see three or four OU games a season. Now, on any given Saturday, you have as many as 25 or 30 different games to choose from. As a result, there are a lot of teams competing for the best time slots for viewership and a pecking order has emerged among the conferences. Unfortunately, the B12 is pretty low in that pecking order, hence the lack of prime time games. Winning will take care of that.

11:00 kick off and being on TV is way better than it was in the 70's and 80's when you only got to see the Sooners on TV 2 or 3 times a year.

yes..I lived in West Point NE from '89-92...and you could not even get our games on the radio. Had to depend on the ticker at the bottom of the screen to see a score.

Well, we're wallowing in the mediocrity of the second ten in the polls.
I guess it stands to reason the TV ad people can't charge the 'night' rates for a game showcasing a (pathetic) #15 team such as OU.

It's evolved from OU could 'bring the bucks' anytime solely on its brand strength alone.
Not so much anymore...
Parity.
I hate it.

Look no further than YCN's post though. There are only 5 games between unbeaten opponents this week. Top 10 or not, OU/WVU is a pretty nice matchup this weekend.
We can't get a better time than KSt/OSU? And you could argue that OUr game is as good as or better than Miss/Fl.

Saturday, 10/3
11:00 AM CT: West Virginia (3-0) at Oklahoma (3-0)
3:30 PM ET: Ohio State (4-0) at Indiana (4-0)
3:00 PM CT: Kansas St (3-0) at Oklahoma St (4-0)
7:00 PM ET: Mississippi (4-0) at Florida (4-0)
8:00 PM ET: Notre Dame (4-0) at Clemson (3-0)

Not to mention it's on that damn Fox sports1 again. This crap needs to change.

Agreed! Sorry, but Fox's production quality vs. ESPN/ABC, CBS is terrible. I'm glad that our games are getting televised, but Fox just seem like the junior varsity compared to the other varsity networks.

Well, I'm old enough to appreciate getting to see the Sooners live on TV period, as opposed to an AM radio broadcast with a lot of static.

However, you all are right.
The ESPN/ABC production is now the gold standard for live CFB. They've got it going on.

I'm a believer that our horrible kickoff times are more a product of our lousy TV contract then how attractive OU games might be. Look no further than OU/Tx. 11AM on ABC despite Texas having a horrible record. That's their national broadcast too.

We should have never teamed with FOX. October baseball will constantly cause football games to be played any time but at night.

We always play the RRR @ 11am because of the State Fair being in a lousy part of old Dallas.

It is the Only game we should ever Have to play so early. Consistently winning Big games again will change this back to the way its supposed to be. Protecting our House this weekend will be a good start as apparently beating the vols at their place wasn't enough...
