This will be the 5th meeting all time between the 2 schools

1960 Brevard 39 Reidsville 6.......Brevard went on win the State Title

1963 Reidsville 0 Brevard 0.....No OT in those days....Teams were declared Western 3A Champs

1970 Reidsville 14 Brevard 6.....Reidsville went on to win Western 3A State title

2005 Reidsville 30 Brevard 14

Brevard played Mountain Heritage the first game of the season and lost 28-14.....their record is 11-3.....Rams must straighten out the offense.....Defense played well but the offense didn't help them out much..........Rams ran only 4 plays in the 3rd qtr. vs. MH...............................

Reidsville will be a monumental challenge and test for my Blue Devils.

On offense - our line does a great job on most nights in run and pass blocking. RB is by committee and has not been overwhelming anyone but has been successful. Mitchell Johnson has really gotten back into his groove at QB after getting injured in the Smoky Mountain game. We have a playmaker wide receiver, Breylon Owens, who caught both 45 yard bombs versus Wheatmore. Ellenberger is a great possession receiver and probably the best DB in WNC (Heading to Coastal Carolina).

Defense is led by Kane Deshauteers at DE who hasn't been stopped all season unless teams send more than one player to help block him and also Ellenberger in the secondary.

I think Reidsville is the heavy favorite but Brevard is playing loose and with a lot of momentum, all the pressure will be on the Rams at home and undefeated.

Good news for Brevard is they only have to be better than Reidsville on Friday night. It doesn't matter if they would lose 9 out of 10 times.

Looking forward to seeing the Rams and cheering on my Blue Devils!

The Rams have a bad habit of going away from what is working in big games. Example, drop our qb straight back and we bomb MH for 3 scores. We role him out and balls fly everywhere. We fail to give Canada the ball last night, 13 for 85yds and we have a dog fight. He still got 6 1/2 yards per carry. MH rode their horse 30 for 175yds. Failing to use Canada cost us bad in the championship last year. It also kept us on pins and needles last night. As an offense we got it done but we have to stick to what is working. If they can't stop it, stay with it. Last night was a great game that everyone could learn from. Good Luck against Brevard!!!

I agree and remember Canada didn’t get a touch on the first possession. I was disappointed in that.

Brevard took advantage four Wheatmore turnovers in the game – three fumbles and an interception.
All 3 of Brevard's playoff wins came against teams from Randolph County - E. Randolph, top-seed Randleman and then Wheatmore.
Brevard QB Mitchell Johnson threw for 249 yards on 15-for-24 with two touchdowns, both to Breylan Owens, who had four receptions for 125 yards. Ellenberger had seven catches for 83 yards.

Brevard skill guys have good size.
QB Johnson is 6-1, 190; playmaking receiver Owens is 6-2 and Ellenberger is 6-1.
All three are seniors.

Nothing but respect for Reidsville and their program! They earned that year in and year out! However the Big Blue is a team that was picked to finish 5 th in our conference. They have nothing to lose in this game. Sometimes a team with nothing to lose is hard to beat!!!! Go Big Blue keep enjoying the ride!!!!

Reidsville will be a tough matchup for Brevard. The Brevard defense can keep them close for a half but look for Reidsville to go back to their big back multiple times next week and prove to be too much for Brevard. I do see the Championship game being very competitive between Reidsville and the Eastern rep. Reidsville is young and will be a handful next couple of years. Their team last year was definitely stronger but still a very good team.

Guys Brevard struggles with Wheatmore. Reidsville is legitimately 4-5 touchdowns better than Wheatmore. This will be a very tall order for Brevard.

You don't struggle when winning 3 consecutive games like Brevard has. There's obviously more to their low scoring affairs. It sounds like they control the line of scrimmage really well. Sounds like a sound defensive unit as well. Going to be interesting.

Watch brevard play once they have solid defense . Their quarterback is solid player sometimes he forces bad throws, they will not be able to run on the ram defense. Look for the rams d-line to have monster game reidsville 42-21

I would like to congratulate both teams but I do remember reading a few years back about Brevard struggling to win some games. What changed ? Was it a coaching or a drop off in kids ? Either way congrats on a great season

Interesting tidbit on these two schools ...
Mark Barnes was head coach at Reidsville from 1989-91 and was head coach at Brevard in 2008 and 2009. He then moved on to Crest for five seasons and is now at Sumter, SC

Also ... who replaced Barnes at Reidsville? -- current head coach Jimmy Teague.

No doubt - all three games against our playoff opponents easily could've gone the other way. Hopefully we can force some turnovers and just be good enough to beat Reidsville one night. Tall order for sure though.

I've seen both teams play Brevard is very good on defence but I don't think they can score enough points. Reidsvilles defence is sought and they have speed, I think the only chance Brevard has is to throw the ball they will not be able to move the ball on the ground against Reidsville also Reidsville quarterback is a very good player he's hits his recivers in stride.good luck to both teams

I was at 2005 and 1970 games.

I went to all 4 of them.....10 years old in 1960.....13 yrs old in 63....etc...etc...................the 1960 and 1963 games were actually played in Asheville.................

I played in the 05 game. Remember it being a good battle. 30-14 I think it was.
