3A Rocky Mount @ 1A Tarboro

Still think this game comes down to defense. The secondary of Tarboro against Rocky Mount's passing attack. On the other side its Rocky Mount's front 7 against Tarboro's rushing attack. Whichever defensive group on either side has the most success will determine the outcome of this game. It could be a chess match early on but I suspect if Tarboro can find success in the run game and eat up some clock they should come out with the W. 35-21 Tarboro.
I think one thing Tarboro has going in their favor is this is the first game of the year. These will be Rocky Mount's first snaps at game speed. The defense you are up against is legendary for being stingy, applies serious pressure to your QB and has very fast DBs. If I was Rocky Mount, I would take my chances on the ground. Try to grind the Vikings down, ala Southern Nash. If you try to get cute with Tarboro's defense and your timing is even slightly off, its strip sack TD or Pick 6.
I think that's why I think the Gryphons have a better chance staying on the ground for the most part. They can grind with a team like Tarboro, but if the Vikings get a couple of defensive TD's early in the game, you have no chance.
It’s definitely going to be a classic! A few of the former players will be tailgating before the game also
Rocky Mount is no slouch. As stated, they pretty much just won a state title and went back to the game the very next year. I'd take them against almost anybody. With that being said, I don't think it'll be a grind out game. I think Tarboro jumps on them early. Some have argued that Tarboro could probably contend for the 3A championship, while others have scoffed at the level of competition they face. So a bunch of teams want to see just how good Tarboro really is. Rocky Mount would love to prove that Tarboro isn't as good as everyone thinks, and I think that overanxiousness will have a negative effect. I will not be surprised if Tarboro gets 21 in the 1st. They'll put up 42 to 49 points for the game and win easily. Then Rocky Mount will win 9 out of the next 10, because they are indeed solid.
Starting to rain & not sure if the game stopped or just the recording but they put plastic over the camera and it was raining so hard you couldn't see the game. Now it says game will resume shortly.
I'm watching the stream too. It seems to have passed the thru the area quickly again. Hopefully they'll put it back on. But I live 10 miles away from Tarboro and I hear thunder. And thunder is caused by lightning. And we know that lightning ends games.
To move a game to another night due to the threat of rain, only to run into a monsoon on that night lmao!
