3A Rocky Mount @ 1A Tarboro

Rocky Mount was about to get that work. I'd be surprised if RM would be willing to complete the game. Being still in the first half, this won't go down as a played game if its cancelled. But to continue it would probably give them an L. So as of now, no harm, no foul.
Football is back !!!!!!! I am so excited and tonight was setting up to be a lot of fun... However the weather had other ideas altogether. I really wish they would have set up a day to finish this game but I understand why they did not. In saying that here are my quick observations:
Tarboro started off kind of "rusty" but was really starting to settle in when the downpour started. We were really starting to move the ball at will and were the better team overall. In saying that RM has nothing to hang their heads about because they are going to have a great season from what I saw. Tarboro will get better game by game and looks like more football to be played in November & December.

That RM kid that dropped the pass in the end zone won’t have that hanging around his neck. RM what a nice opening drive scripted. Tarboro was able to weather that storm and looked pretty solid until the real storm showed up.
I still have issue with the RM/Tarboro game being cancelled. I mean its 15 miles! Why not try again tonight at the very least. RM actually plays the Conley's next Thursday so not only is Conley playing Monday all the way in ECity but have RM THURSDAY. I normally don't pull for the Conley's but I hope they beat the brakes off RM next week. Hats off to the Conley's for giving the effort to uphold their obligations.
I agree it with you. And up to the players, they would have played in the storm.
I know it makes me sound like a major homer but I agree swe 98, you could tell we were wearing them down.
Yeah. Tarboro was definately exposing the DT's and the ILB's in the run game. I think Rocky Mount had just enough of a run game to bring the safety up and get some one on one on the WR. They were starting realize that just before the rain. As a fan it was about to get interesting. Still think RM was going to get the L.

That's exactly right. More importantly, What kind of message does this send to the Rocky Mount players? If I'm a player I would have to question my coaches if they believe in me enough to go out there and get the win against a 1A opponent even though we were down. It's not a good look for Rocky Mount. If they were to play tonight or Monday against Tarboro and finish, win or lose it's a better look than what they have now.
Gotta think about the big picture. No need to risk injury for a pointless game that won't have an effect on your championship positioning. There are risks in every game, but you lessen the chances by not exposing your players to unnecessary hits. And the game isn't necessary for playoff positioning. It'll be dropped by Rocky Mount. I get it. No need to try to prove yourself when it could only cause harm and no good to the main goal. Plus, they already got the money. THAT'S my real beef. Those tickets should be good for each school's next home game.
Then why schedule the game? If you dont want to play then forfeit before you even take the field with that reasoning. They thought they would look better but didn't. Now they have a game against Conley and if I'm Rocky Mount right now do they really know what they have as a team? I doubt it. I can promise you Northeastern will test everything Conley has. You just can't simulate a live game. You need the reps and come Thursday Rocky Mount may find out how bad they needed those reps. If Rocky Mount goes 0-2 I can guarantee that will effect there main goal, the big picture, playoff positioning, and not to mention the psyche of the team. I just dont think it's a good look. Like Bill Parcels use to say. "You are what your record says you are."
Lol...I love you SMC guys! I can guarantee any of you guys would have finished that game win or lose....hell or high water.
As a South Central parent. I want them to beat Conley. The best Rocky Mount can hope is they get the win Thursday and all of this goes into the rearview. I also hope for the Rocky Mount players sake.
I said nothing about the "players" being ashamed. I said Rocky Mount which means the ones able to make the decisions... The coach should resign if that is what he calls leadership. He just showed his kids he does not believe in them at all or care what they want. Sad to not finish what was started for no reason whatsoevr
