CLASS A
Millard South (10-1) at Omaha Westside (10-1)
Millard South.. But only 45 & 48 last 2 games?? Doing that on purpose or has something been figured out?
Millard South: 42 - Omaha Westside: 18
Papillion-LaVista South (10-1) at Omaha Creighton Prep (10-1)
This should be a great game.. Creighton Prep with the better resume (maybe?)
Creighton Prep: 30 - PLVS: 17
CLASS B
Gretna (7-4) at Gretna East (10-1)
Gretna, not high, but Gretna the city. Booming. Along with that, comes talent. Apparently enough to split high schools and in 3 short years have them both playing for a chance at going to Lincoln. I'm sure there is some buzz in the air down there. We've said Class B was open all year long, and Gretna High has reminded everyone of just that.. New rivalry, everything on the line, this is what makes High School Football so special. But this one is a rematch.. From 3 or 4 weeks ago. Gretna East winning a class one 35-28.. There will be less points this go around, but the same result.
Gretna East: 24 - Gretna High: 21
Bennington (9-2) at Waverly (11-0)
Little 'ol Bennington and their "off year". 2 losses. Unbelievable how far they have "fallen".... Those 2 losses? Combined 4 points, 2 of which were to Waverly week 1.. Coach Lenhart continues to establish himself as one of the premier coaches in the state.. Throw the #s and talent out the window, this guy can coach. He's CONSISTENT. Also of note, Bennington and their only rematch this year.. Take a look, avenged a 2 point loss 2-3 weeks later by 5 touchdowns.. Knocking on the door of another state title berth.. Incredible stuff. But.... Waverly and Coach Manstedt is also all of those things. A great coach, maxes out talent, and consistent. This is a great match up with great coaches and talent.
Bennington: 30 - Waverly: 28
CLASS C1
Ashland-Greenwood (10-1) at Wahoo (11-0)
A great matchup.. Ashland-Greenwood with a lot of pride and will be focused/well prepared this go around, no doubt. That one loss, though.. 0-35 against Wahoo early in the season. And that's really nothing to hang your head about because Wahoo can and will do that to anybody... They're that good.
Wahoo: 38 - Ashland-Greenwood: 14
Sidney (11-0) at Columbus Lakeview (11-0)
Sidney.. What a story 2025 has been for these guys.. Never giving up more than 2 touchdowns and 4 shutouts.. 4?? That's an incredible stat for their defense. Their offense, nothing to frown about, but the defense will have to play lights out.. Columbus Lakeview? 11-0 for a reason.. One big reason? Their defense is incredible, too. Giving up 19 points twice as the season high. Who can figure who out first?
Columbus Lakeview: 21 - Sidney: 18
CLASS C2
**Disclaimer - I've said every week that Cedar Catholic was your 2025 state champs.. That will not be the case - congrats Ord, great game by both teams last week, incredible finish**
Ord (8-3) at Grand Island Central Catholic (10-1)
Ord, forgive me - what a finish last week. I've picked against GICC for a few straight weeks, my mistake, Coach Ashby has these guys playing well. I didn't have either team making this round, so now, it's a crapshoot.
Ord: 21 - GICC: 20.5
Kearney Catholic (11-0) at Wahoo Neumann (10-1)
Steady as she goes, Kearney Catholic.. They just keep winning. Neumann? Interested in another state title berth. The biggest question is, if Kearney Catholic wins, will the Kearney Hub take a shot at the Stars like they did the Lady Dusters in their incredible state volleyball appearance.. Optics weren't great in that one!
Wahoo Neumann: 34 - Kearney Catholic: 24
CLASS D1
Plainview (10-1) at Sandy Creek (10-1)
This has potential to be a wild one. Plainview is playing some really good football right now, especially offensively. But you can't beat Sandy without a well executed defensive gameplan. SC playing at home, matters, I think. The long road trip to Benkelman didn't phase the Pirates, however. Lots of points, I think...
Sandy Creek: 42 - Plainview: 24
Crofton (9-2) at Shelby/Rising City (11-0)
Speaking of points... Can SRC keep Crofton from blowing another scoreboard fuse? I think so... Crofton, your run has been incredible and your ability to score points is unmatched by anyone this offseason. Shelby/Rising City though.. They're just good. Real good. Especially their defense.. The teams won't combined won't score 90, let alone Crofton, sorry Warrior fans. Outcome though?
Crofton: 38 - SRC: 30
CLASS D2
O'Neill St. Mary's (11-0) at Howells-Dodge (11-0)
Speaking of points AGAIN.. St Mary's is no stranger to scoring those. Hedstrom (spelling?) QB for St Mary's is a Shrine Bowl kid, he's just that good. KOR, PR, Passing, Running, it doesn't matter. He finds the endzone.. OFTEN. Howells-Dodge, well... Sorry for last week's pick. Lawrence Nelson is no slouch, scoring 70 points in the 1st half against EM the week before, and you held them to 8 all game last week. One thing is for sure.. You can't hardly run the ball on HD.. I don't know that you can pass it either; however, St Mary's will have the best air attack they've season all year.. Shouldn't have picked against Speirs.. My bad. Lesson learned? Or does it just not make sense to think St Mary's is capable of losing? Someone has to lose Friday.. Toss up to me - random guess.
St Mary's: 32 - Howells Dodge: 24
Wynot (10-1) at Central Valley (11-0)
Wynot has become no stranger to winning big games here recently. They've found a way to knock off just about anyone the last couple of years. When they started scoring against Hitchcock Co. It just never stopped.. That one loss? 30-36 to Archangels in OT, nothing to hang your head about there. However, Central Valley did just beat those guys, like they have everyone for about 3 straight years now.. Central Valley got pushed for the first time in a long time Friday night.. But ultimately, they found the victory.
Central Valley: 32 - Wynot: 20
Millard South (10-1) at Omaha Westside (10-1)
