8th national title and 1 state title for Saban?

How can you explain this?

QB A.J. McCarron won 36 games in 3 years at Alabama and TWO national titles! But didn’t win the Heisman!



QB Greg McElroy led Alabama to an unbeaten season. But didn’t make the playoff or the New Year’s Six bowls.

QB Jake Coker led Alabama to the 2015 national title! But didn’t win the Heisman!

Finally, this year, QB Bryce Young took Alabama to tonight’s national title game … AND won the Heisman! About time.

Let’s see if Young can earn his big H against Georgia tonight, a team he already beat this season in the SEC title game.

I know this is a West Virginia forum. Well, Bama coach Nick “Brother” Saban is a West Virginia native, his father Nick, Sr. was a legend in youth football and baseball in Marion County, Brother quarterbacked the 1968 Monongah High state championship team, even had a short stay with the WVU athletic department. Can’t get much more West Virginia than that.

State championship at Monongah High, maybe his 8th national title tonight (7 at Alabama, 1 at LSU). Just the normal resume for a Monongah High graduate.

As, for example, Dr. Bruce Edmond, WVU Medicene CEO, another Monongah High graduate.
Brother led the LSU Tigers to the BCS National Championship in 2003 and the Alabama Crimson Tide to BCS and AP national championships in 2009, 2011, 2012, and College Football Playoff championships in 2015, 2017 and 2020. He has won seven national titles as a head coach, the most in college football history.
And he's not done yet! Bear Bryant is a distant 2nd in Alabama legend!

And the little squirt pumped gas into my car on numerous occasions as I drove through the area on my way to visits and summer stays with relatives a little farther up the road.

It's boring having the same group of teams competing for the title every year and I'd say the same if WVU was one of the group competing every year. I'd be a little less annoyed if WVU was one of the teams, but I wouldn't be less bored.

I'm definitely not watching the entire game tonight. I might...might tune in at some point. And if it's close when I tune in, I might keep watching. If I tune in near the end and it's close, I'll definitely watch the close ending.

And that's it. Alabama vs Georgia at this point is simply boring.

About as interesting as reading your discussions of the accomplishments of his father and your rah, rah for Monongah High from which, BTW, I had two first cousins graduate.

GEORGIA PROVED ONCE AGAIN THAT THE TEAM THAT PLAYS BETTER IN THE CLUTCH AND DOWN THE STRETCH WINS. BULLDOGS' OFFENSIVE LINE WORE DOWN BAMA'S DEFENSIVE LINE AND GAVE THE WALKOUT QB TIME TO DILLY-DALLY BEFORE THROWING LATE IN THE GAME. THAT WAS A KILLER. MY CONGRATUATIONS TO GEORGIA. BROTHER WILL HAVE TO BE SATISFIED WITH ONLY 7 NATIONAL TITLES AND THE STATE TITLE AT MONONGAH HIGH.

Nick Saban 6 titles at Alabama 2009, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2017 and 2020 and one at LSU in 2003.

Give Saban credit as he has earned the top spot as best coach in college football.

NICK DIDN'T CHOKE. GEORGIA OFFENSIVE LINE WORE DOWN ALABAMA DEFENSIVE LINE IN 4TH QUARTER. BEFORE THAT THE BULLDOG QB WAS HARASSED REGULARLY. IN 4TH QUARTER HE HAD TIME TO READ A BOOK BEFORE PASSING. THAT WAS THE #1 REASON GEORGIA WON, AND EARNED, THE VICTORY.
