I live at the base of Carpenters knob where Knobby originated ! I’ve never seen him but got accused of being him one day when I went outside without my shirt ! (shut up)

I agree with the poster some of the finest people I’ve ever met are from upper cc. Had the honor of being around and coaching many of the kids on the middle school and the burns high roster over the years and new they were some special kids especially off the field where it matters most .

I’ll share this about these kids

my nephew had surgery on both legs last week! He is on the Burns High Jv team! That team had him break it down after his last practice then surrounded him in prayer ! Let me tell you that is not the norm in today’s age with a lot of our youth but this was so encouraging ! Many Facebook posts from team mates and even varsity starters on the day of his surgery requesting prayer ! That’s a special bunch and I’m honored to be a part of their lives in a small way! Love those kids

Tomorrow will be a good one ! Two talented teams going at it... will be a barn burner

The difference in the game is can Burns DB’s contain the receivers. I think we will have no problem with our D line getting pressure and i think we will move the ball well and score. But can we stop the receivers?

If you pressure the QB good enough it makes finding those receivers much harder. They cannot let Bess sit back comfortable or it will be tough to stop them. You can only cover a receiver so long. This one will be interesting.

Hands down the best group of kids to come through Burns and I’m not talking about Football alone. They have came together as one big time. They are brothers win or lose.
As far as the upper end stereotype they use the saying #wethenorth for a reason.

JV Doggies just
Beat Shelby 25-14

And it wasn’t that close. Shelby scored their first touchdown right after a roughing the kicker extended their very first drive and their other on an untimed down after a penalty and we fumbled away another score. Way to go JV’s!

Shelby’s JV has been taking some Ls, however, we do play a lot of sophomores on the varsity, particularly on the D line. I do have concerns going beyond this year, though. There has been a promising quarterback following a senior leader in this run of state championships, George, Lee, Sarratt, and Bess. Those are some very big shoes to fill. I hope Ruff comes back to Shelby and regains that position next season, or Shelby will have some serious concerns about the most important position there is in its system, offensively. Not to say the current backups aren’t promising, but they are currently freshmen.

I figured Ruff would come back. If he does look out. Talented kid for sure. We moved up a few on varsity too. Obviously Haynes and Thompson as freshman but I think everyone saw that coming. Should be fun tonight.

New to the forum. A friend of mine actually referred me to this site. I'm an old school Lion, I guess, shout out to Coach Norman lol!

I will take Shelby tonight by 14. I do think this will be a close game, and Shelby's receivers will help them pull away at the end. I'm a little concerned about Bess and his accuracy this year. It seems at time he's struggling.

Ruff definitely should return to Shelby. It's actually a no brainer. In fact we cold use him this year, in a 2 qb scheme....

Caleb Borders should return as well..

Oh yeah does anyone know what happened to the Linebacker Shelby had last year? I believe he was a freshman, seemed like a definite starter on Varsity and huge D1 recruit. He had a brother already ranked high in another state?

I hear that he had gotten into some trouble, and he’s at Gaffney High now, his brother is a freshman at Florida University.

That young man has all the tools to be a big time prospect, he was already on the radar of major colleges .Hopefully, he’ll get things turned around around quickly. He’s only a sophomore. He’s over
6ft, has the size, temperament, and everything, pretty much a clone of his brother, physically.

I think that Daylin will be fine. He is a fine young man and very coachable. Willing to learn for sure, i know this with being involved at SMS. He has most definitely been raised right. A sophomore Q can give growing pains but it’s something that you know you’re building on. I wouldn’t sweat to much over it.

Any word on ticket saleouts? They’d bout need to move this game to East Burke to acomodate fans lol. Just asking cause us good game hunters are on the prowl looking for a good un’. Another good one in area with a lot at stake for conference and playoff seeding is North Lincoln and Maiden. No bias there, will actually be a good game. All other ones are way too predictable.

Are tickets for this game sold out or about to be and how can anyone find out?

I get so tired of the never ending stereotyping of Upper Cleveland County. Some of the best people in the world live up here. I am originally from a “real” city, a big city, and I moved here and went to Burns High. I can tell you- I missed nothing at all by graduating from Burns. Everybody knows Shelby is always the team to beat most years, that’s what makes beating them so satisfying. Win or lose- we’ll give you a battle. If all you can do is belittle us to make yourselves feel better then please know anyone loyal to light blue, gold and white knows that none of you below Zion church road is any better than the Bulldogs. In fact, the years we beat y’all several years I a row we got worried that beating Shelby was getting a little too anti-climatic.

so is this road a demarcation of who owns farm animals and who doesn't?

If that Crest and Shelby game didn’t sale out in 2015 this one will not either. Come on! People had to park at Kmart and cross 74 when Crest played there in 2015.

Burns had it down inside the Shelby 10 FUMBLE

Shelby has had it down close twice FUMBLE and interception in endzone.

Cant continue to play like that either side...

I'm sure both sides feel like they've played awful. I know I feel that way. I'm pleased to only be down 6.
