Just my opinion, based on what people have coming back I don’t see things changing much.
Murphy
Robbinsville
Swain
Andrews
Cherokee
Rosman
Hayesville
And you could possibly switch Robbinsville and Swain, went with the Knights at home. Look out for Andrews I see them with a winning season if they stay healthy. Braves drop off a little and Hayesville seems to have problems in the hive. Thoughts ? Go Knights

Andrews and Cherokee could switch.

The gap between Robbinsville and Murphy will shrink a little. Swain will improve but I dont see them beating Robbinsville in Graham County next year.

I seriously don't think our boys as a team will eat that weight room up, everyone on here knows that it's a must to be in there bustin your butt!! We have a few underclassmen that's gonna get in there and and get it, I just hope tha upperclassmen that's in there is a positive not a negative to em!!

Imo swain vs robbinsville will be for conference title.
I wouldn't count out Murphy just yet, they'll be young (not many seniors) but very talented. Next year's sophomores and juniors both went undefeated on JV and the seniors lost a close one to Swain.

My biggest worry for Murphy next season is on defense, more specifically outside linebacker and safety. Losing McTaggart, Roberts and Nelson will hurt the 'Dogs way more on defense than on offense. But if one or two of the sophomores that didn't play this year come back out as they're expected to and one or two of the kids that are being talked about coming in, happens ; those worries will ease some.

I think next year will be the tightest the conference has been at the top in a couple of years. I know there was 3 way tie last year but that was a fluke, if it happens next year I don't think it will be a fluke at all. Swain and Robbinsville will both have very good teams next year.

My predication:

Robbinsville
Murphy
Swain
Andrews
Hayesville
Cherokee
Rosman

Those top 3 are close. I'm giving the Knights the edge just because they bring back so much youth from this year's line plus two experienced backs. Murphy loses talent, but has plenty of talent to fill in the gaps. Their line comes back mostly intact. Swain brings back a lot too, and how good they are depends on whether or not they change their offense; too one dimensional this year. I honestly think that next year is the year that Andrews picks off one of the top 3. Depending on Hayesville's coach, they could push Andrews; a lot of young talent there. Cherokee is getting ready to see the bottom of the conference for the foreseeable future. Rosman will be down for a year or two; young.

Andrews is not finishing 2nd next year and I say that as someone that wants them to do well. Realistically Andrews could finish 4th next season. Maybe if everything goes right Andrews challenges for 2nd in 2020 but it will be hard with limited depth, they'll need all their top kids to keep playing both varsity and JV and a few more to come out.

Murphy should win the conference in 2020 barring a bunch of injuries and/or kids quitting. Andrews will have a good group next year and especially the year after but Murphy's junior and senior classes will be loaded in 2020, they both went undefeated on JV for a reason.

Next year is the year for someone to knock off Murphy if they're going to but I dont see 'Dogs finishing any lower than 2nd next year either. Murphy will eventually have another down period (by their standards) like they did in the mid '00s but they're in reload mode right now and should be for at least the next couple of seasons.

I'll tell you who won't win conference next year or 2020 ... Swain. Don't know what's worse, their coaching or their talent. Murphy and the Knights both take them to the woodshed next two years. Andrews picks them off at least once.

I still think the predictions for Murphy are a little high. While we have alot of good young talent we lose ALOT . Several 3 year starters , leaders on this football team . I think there will be growing pains more so on the defensive side of the ball.

Care to explain your reasoning for this prediction?

I think the ceiling of next year's team will have a lot to do with whether or not any of the Mikey Crowder, Isra Smith, Degan Smith and Ryan Schane 10th grade skill group come back out for the team next year and/or whether 2-3 rumored transfers actually show up.

Murphy really needs at least two of that sophomore skill quartet to play again next year or the 'Dogs are going to have some limited options in the secondary and some depth issues at the skill positions. The good news is that I do think they will get a couple of those kids on the team.

Either way, Murphy's line will carry them in the early going next season until the youngsters at the skill spots and in the secondary get their feet wet and gain experience. Murphy will have the best line in the conference next season, which will greatly aide them.

Same ole song in 2019-2020.. you stop Sain, you stop Swain.. Murphy and Robbinsville figured that out very easily. And almost Hayesville
I don't think that will be the case, especially after listening to the 2 playoff games on the radio for Swain. Things were starting to gel and going back to form for the Maroon Devils.

You are right. The hardest working team in the weight room was last year’s team. Mintz and Perez those boys had the team working.

Murphy's season will depend a lot on Rumfelt at QB and whether or not some of those other Freshmen that moved up at the end of the JV season can contribute as Sophomores. Brinke needs to grow, Wood needs to be more aggressive, and Laney needs to get stronger. Picking up Crowder and Isra would be big as well. Just not reliable. If, and all of this is a major if, all that happens, Murphy will be a load again in 2019.

Yeah I agree with this for the most part. This year's freshman arent going to be starting on offense next year, besides K Rumfelt. But a couple are going to need step up and grab a spot on defense. Especially if I Smith and Crowder don't play, because the secondary is going to be real thin otherwise.

Crowder and Isra are both good DB's and Crowder would have started this year if he played. The two transfers coming in would be more imperative if they don't play next year .

As far as freshman go don't forget about K Rumfelt's twin brother, B Rumfelt, who would've started on JV this year if not for injury. He will be playing next season and could be in the mix in the secondary, but he needs to hit the weight room hard.

I've watched Andrews football more than 5 decades and believe this group is on the right track. However until they start playing better defense they won't beat a team with a winning record. Although they put up 38 points on a pretty good Robbinsville team the defense allowed 55. The Swain game at Andrews should have been a lot closer given Swain's record this year. I would expect a 5th place finish in the SMC next year, possibly 4th with some luck but luck can be a fickle thing to pin your hopes on.

Murphy- Robbinsville has to prove that they can out coach the Gentry squad.
Robbinsville- great program and really hope that they get on top, well deserved.
Swain- been butchered on other forums but I have been impressed with Swain past two years. Believe that they are building up.
Andrews- coach is doing a great job and it is fixing to pay off.
Cherokee- why weren’t there more players in 2018? Year after state, the sidelines should have been loaded.
Hayesville
Rosman-I will probably get blasted for this one and it’s hard to admit but it’s the truth.

Rosman whipped us convincingly this year. I realize that you are graduating quite a few seniors. Is that the reason you are expecting a down season next year?

Loss Of the Seniors, kids planning on transferring to Brevard, and others not going to play. Will be a very minimal squad team next year

I think it's likely to be a 3 way tie. Murphy just can't seem to win at Swain ever, going on 15 years since their last win there.

I'll take the home teams: Robbinsville beats Swain, Swain beats Murphy, Murphy beats Robbinsville.

mbdfan, I like your reasoning! Andrews has Murphy, Cherokee and Rosman at home next year.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Andrews knocks off one of the “big three” next year or the year after. I see shades of 2015 Rosman in this bunch. The Wildcats just need to do one thing that Tigers team couldn’t do and that’s stay healthy.

Be good for the smc and great for Andrews if they could break into the top tier....league was legit 3 good teams deep this year. Swain and Andrews could make it 5 deep again.....they both have good talent coming up

Just a honest question here and no disrespect to the Braves. If the Braves athletes feel like they are going to be down for the next few seasons does anyone think they will be kids transferring to Swain or Smoky Mountain since they are both suppose to be strong next year ? I don’t know what Cherokee has coming up so this is just a question

Murphy, Robbinsville and Swain battle for the top spot next year and all 3 will be a tough out. Andrews is fourth imo. The Cats struggled at the QB position this year and that may continue next year. Murphy and Robbinsville both replace their QBs as well. Murphy will be loaded with talent around their QB though, he should have plenty of help.

You always got a pretty good pulse on things biscuit, you expect any of those sophomores that didn't play this year to come back out next year? My gut feeling is at least one or two of them will, just wanted your thoughts on it.

No inside info lol but I think Smith plays, not sure about the other.
