He seems to be only focusing on it like he did last week. That should buy us a few more days.

...about Tyler anymore.

Meaning, as a QB, if you can't get fired up about Florida's OC being your new HC, then you were a lost cause from the get-go.

Tyler Russell ain't Tim Tebow.. we're not gonna be running Russell on QB powers and QB dives out of the shotgun (at least I hope not).. their offense is pretty vanilla.. it has simple reads for the QB (not that it's a bad thing) and based on having super athletes at the skill positions and a bulldozer at QB. They looked like **** when Chris Leak was running it and even at times last year and I think Russell is more Leak than Tebow (coming out of high school).

running the damn thing. 2nd in the conf in both scoring and total offense. They tweaked the offense to fit Leak, and he'll do the same with whoever is playing QB for us. Not to mention that Russell was running read option for meridian.

I mean seriously.

or at Utah with Alex Smith.

seriously, we have a coach that will use the talents of his players. adapting your offense - what a novel concept.

and Alex Smith had plenty of designed runs at Utah. Is Russell that kind of player? Every clip I've seen looked like he's a straight dropback or shotgun passing QB.

Tyler can certainly run it a little if you watched the State Championship game. That said, I doubt Mullen will want to use him that way. Tebow is a whole lot more stout than Tyler.

Mullen is a REAL coach. He will adjust to his personnel and then recruit to his preferred offense.

smith ran reads, like vince young ran at texas. they tried to get leak to run the same thing. tebow just lines up in the backfield and runs QB power like a fullback.

sure, russell may not run like smith or tebow. but those two ran different plays also, and i'd bet that russell will not be running tebow-powers.

Tupelo wideout Chad Bumphis was impressed with his first look at Russell. "He had a strong arm and he's very accurate," Bumphis said. "He's a great quarterback. I like him."
Maybe we can land Bumphis afterall.

You can't be serious. Remember them winning a NC with Leak as the main guy and Tebow only taking the occasional change of pace snaps? Leak was a solid college QB. And from what I've heard Russell has some decent wheels, a couple hundred yards rushing and some TDs on the ground, so it's not like we're getting an immobile guy.
