Nation you have been rebuilding for 6 years.....its always next year....no really next year.....albemarle will be bad to mediocre at best for quite awhile.
Actually no I believe 6 years ago we lost to Murphy in the mud bowl. That team was pretty good. 5 years ago is when we were pretty good but had to forfeit, still that team was pretty good as well. The next year which would be 4 years ago I think we still beat west lost to north that year if I'm not mistaken not sure would have to look but we have been bad the last 3 most definitely. Last year turned the corner and getting better and this year they are right there. Really should be 2-0 right now but that is should of could have's. Will be an interesting season
Not really I personally would rather have better teams. Win or lose I like competition. What school are you for again?
I would love a 1a/2a split conference here. Lose Chatham and south gain west and Anson east mont and Forrest hills
Our guys fought hard. What a great game. We are definitely turning the corner. I think we give NS all they can handle. Congrats to West on the win. Thats what high school football is all about.
Mental mistakes. Up 22-9, you can’t get laxed, our young boys gotta understand football doesn’t start until the second half... but I know the coaches will get them there. It was a beautifully called game from Albemarle standpoint and a bend but don’t break mentality had them in there...but they eventually broke...and again “FUMBLES”!!!

Additionally I would like to go ahead and bet next year and when we win you will wear a Bulldogs shirt with got 5? On the back and where to the north stanly vs west stanly game ). Deal?Albemarle needs to work on their passing game. Their rushing attack seems to have potential but so far their passing game has not taken off at all. It's going to be hard to defeat a good team without one unless you have a tremendous rushing attack. The Bulldogs have a good running game but not enough to compensate for a lack of a passing game.
I called it against T-Ville after the game and WS before the game...
If we had even a "Decent" passing attack, Albemarle drops 30+ both games...
Without the turnovers Albemarle could be 2-0 but turnovers are part of the game. They have got to generate some type of passing game or it will be a long season.Quit having your quarterback roll to his left and try to throw. He struggles enough without having him roll left and throw against his body. Not giving up yet but these kids need a win to generate some confidence.
I agree Dogs9 and that’s why getting a V would have done wonders. Albemarle will lose against Eastern Randolph and will lose against Union Pines. An 0-4 start is not the end of the world but 1-3 is much better. Keeping kids on page and not giving up will be a tall task but the Dawgs have a good enough coaching staff to fend off this problem.
Personally I think Eastern Randolph and definitely Union Pines are winnable games for the Bulldogs. Not sure we will get both but I definitely 1 of the two is possible. This is not the same team as last year. Also keep in mind against WS our top DE was not playing that just happened be the side that the big plays happened (the few big plays WS had) and another starter on defense was out. We will be healthy this week and have our defense in tact. I know plays not being available is part of the game although our DE and biggest receiver should have been available had it not been for a over sensitive ref at Thomasville but a player like that on our team who already lacks depth would have been a positive difference. On to this week play to win the play calling needs to stay on par with what it was the first 3 quarters. Play to win!!
nation I will say that you do always support your boys week in and week out. Last year I think I joked about you picking them to win by 1 almost every week. This year, as I told everybody, I am just an interested observer as my son is now in his second week of college.
As far as the ER/Albemarle game this week I am not sure the Dogs can score enough to keep up with a much improved ER offense. I am sure those young men from last year have made great strides but winning on the road in Ramseur may be tough this year.
Safe travels to all making the trek and I hope both teams come out of game healthy.
I do agree about ER they are a good team but I do think they have a shot. Especially with everybody there. We shall see Friday night.
Based on the Union Pines/Providence Grove score next week may be a tall order as well.

Eastern Randolph pretty much did anything they wanted to do with the Bulldogs. I know some actually thought the Dogs could hang with Eastern Randolph. Can’t blame those who support Albemarle but they went through a good ole fashioned butt-whooping.
Union Pines will beat Albemarle with ease. Albemarle really could have used a W against the Colts because keeping morale up will be hard.

One thing that Albemarle needs to correct is their non conference schedule. I don’t know why they no longer play Mt. Pleasant which was always competitive and a good gate. They also need a home game before the fifth week of the season. Here’s a radical thought about scheduling. Is there a rule that forbids a team from playing the same team twice in the same regular season? For example play West Stanly Home and away in the same season . That would also be a good gate for both teams. Both schools could use the money . Just a thought.
Watched the ER game and UP last year and then the ER game this year and ER has improved a lot. They are a tough team. Defensively and offensively. Hats off to that staff and the improvements they have made.
As far as scheduling. This is the last of two games and this was agreed to prior to Coach davis arriving. I would assume we would add maybe like a Anson moving forward.
Additionally I think you will see thomasville stay add Anson instead of ER not sure who they will add instead of a UP or keep it going
The ER improvements are mostly on the offensive side. Defensively they are basically almost the same. Albemarle's numbers hurt them it seems in both years. Second half, especially this year, it really seemed like they tired a lot. Effort is there but would help if some starters could rest occasionally. Good luck against UP and then conference.
I know we were down some players Friday but ER is a tough team. They controlled that game on both sides of the ball.

Actually Cates was at Lee County for 9 years. From 2009 until last season. Time goes by quickly doesn't it?
I don't know how I messed that up. I remember him telling me during Shrine Bowl week that he had been at Lee County five years and that was in 2013. I was impressed with him. Thought he was an excellent coach and did a very good job.
