Iona beat Bosco last year because Ajani scored last two TDs

The Gaels ended last season as New York's No. 1-ranked team, but Don Bosco entered Friday ranked No. 2 in New Jersey behind only rival Bergen Catholic.

"We were probably double-digit dogs going into this game I'm sure," Spagnolo said. "I think it's more than just the league and what it did for Iona. I think it's what it did for New York state. We play football here, too."

Nice Mahomes style shovel pass at 17:00
Greg will make sure that never happens lol

Schiano burns through promising QBs without ever getting much out of them. I think they're all the problem.

Ryan Hart was a productive college passer by the time he left Rutgers. Mike Teel got an NFL opportunity thanks to Schiano. Tom Savage also would have played in the NFL, had he remained at Rutgers. Vedral did his best and got us to a bowl game at least. Gary Nova was a good college qb by the time he left Rutgers. But why let facts get in the way?

Tom Savage, an elite prospect, got good when he left Schiano; under Schiano not so good...a QB getting us to a bowl game isn't especially impressive in an era when a 5 or 6 win season can get you to a bowl...Gary Nova got much better when Ralph Friedgen became OC and said he learned things he'd never been told before...in the end, not a lot of quality wins to show for a slew of QBs. Mike Teel was the only one who panned out under GS. But why let facts get in the way? Go watch reruns of the Tropicana Bowl now.

Savage was a freshman AA, which IMHO is pretty damn good. He went downhill when his concentration was on other things than football.

I think Sanu would have been RU's best QB
Teel played when RU had a top OL and defenses were designed around stopping Rice and run game.
Back then RU passing was epic between the unprotected 20s and a flop in red zone (Britt only had two red zone TDs).
Savage was a great QB but he was always an injury waiting to happen with RU's OL so bad that. it led nation in sacks allowed .
Schiano said- during Sanu's senior season - that his best position would have been saftey.
That's probably true but I also think he would have been a great QB
He was a good passer and had 20+ red zone TDs with wild cat and all that.
Imagine Teel or Savage in wild cat (A scheme RU's OL made mandatory)

Either way, we keep hearing great things about QB recruits and they keep bombing out, totally bombing out. Wasn't Wimsatt supposed to be the guy? Now we're already past him. Either QB development stinks or the wrong guys are being recruited. Our team can't ever complete a 10 yard pass ffs--in a pass-happy era. Not even against horrible defenses.

The lack of decent OL play and subsequent beatings from unblocked defenders had a lot to do with him going downhill.

Savage not only played in the NFL, but he was better at Pitt. Nova did become a decent college QB, but it was after Schiano left and he actually learned how to play the position under Friedgen. Teel was a decent game manager with formidable offensive weapons that were not utilized to their fullest. In 2006, he had 2 NFL RBs, 2 NFL WRs, one of the best OLs in the country, and he was game managing low scoring rock fights. He was better in 2007 and 2008, when Schiano took off the leather helmets for a stretch.

agree on all counts and people don't realize, Teel was held back by Greg. Teel was only allowed to read half field progressions on over 90% of his plays

Greg held that offense back

Who said Wimsatt will not be the guy? Certainly not all of us. That is yet to be determined.

The point I was trying to make was, had Savage remained at Rutgers, he would have played in the NFL. Nova played reasonably well for a freshman under Schiano and Cignetti in 2011. We won 11 games in 2006 and the offense was adequate, scoring 40+ points in a thriller against West Virginia. At this point, the only thing holding this offense back is the lack of talent. And that is quickly being rectified.

You don't know that for sure about Savage. He may have lost the job to Nova in 2011 or 2012. As far as 2013, when Savage was eligible to play again (at Pittsburgh), Gary Nova was coming off a year in which he passed for 2695 yards and 22 touchdowns in 2012. He had a lock on the starting job for 2013 if Savage was able to transfer to RU.

That makes no sense. Nova wasn't good enough to beat out Savage in '11, and he would have redshirted. Nova only platooned with Dodd in '11 because we had no one else.
IMO, Rutgers wins the Big East Championship with Savage at the Helm in 2012.

Make up your mind: “Is Ajani the Future” or is “Surace going to lead Rutgers to the Rose Bowl?”
