Almost Wishing I Didn't Punch My Elk Tag Last Week

. . . I could really use the distraction of elk hunting this fall.

I got pretty lucky last week and arrowed a cow elk in the first 15 minutes of archery season. But since I burned my one and only general elk tag to do it, my elk season is technically over. This is looking like it would have been a great fall to spend tons of time in the woods, away from college football. Maybe I can help some of my buddies get their elk. I'll come up with something.

We're about 2hrs from the West Yellowstone entrance to Yellowstone, so we certainly have that option for our fall yesterdays. Or we could head up to Glacier for the weekend. Truth is, I think this time of the year is the very best time to see both parks. I still have deer tags and antelope tags, so I'm not done with hunting entirely this fall, but elk usually require so much effort that I normally spend the vast majority of my time chasing them.

Man I'm jealous. Montana has always been the main state I'd love to move to. Not sure how we'd do in the winters though lol
