I read something on 247 the ncaa is trying to rule him in ineligible this season? Apparently it was on the radio. Has anyone heard anything about this, or is there any truth to this? I already can’t stand the NCAA for the clear hatred of us, but this would be absolute ********. After red shirting post injury and all of the time and hard work he has put into his body over the last year, it would be devastating. He’s clearly option 1 at the 5.

Hope it’s not true. However he is not “clearly option 1 at the 5” If that’s the case it’s gonna be rough year for our bigs.

I see him sharing a role with Fru, but I see Sananda at the four with Pryor and Khani. Aly seems to be the only true Center was my point. Though things have become more positionless, and CPK will more than likely run a three guard offense, in some cases 4 with Hadley. But yeah, I hope this is just a baseless rumor with zero merit.

It is an issue an issue. Given our history with the NCAA I am not optimistic he will play for UL.

My question is if it is an eligibility issue, why wait a whole year to find out? They knew he was on the roster. Now this is just stupid because we let James Scott go and now we possibly need 2 big men...

IF this comes to fruition UofL should sue the NCAA. As stated, he has been here for a year and all of sudden this is an issue? They grant waivers for eligibility all the time for ridiculous reasons.

As of now, it appears Aly has been ruled ineligible to play. Has hired a lawyer and will need to win an appeal to be able to play.

Ridiculous when other guys are playing their 6th year of college ball. But if Aly can't play then the Cards have huge front court holes to shore up.

Just bear in mind that Fru has yet to sign...

This makes no sense. He should have been ruled ineligible last year. That means both Louisville and the NCAA missed it? Then timing wise you find out after the portal and recruiting is done?

How many times does Louisville basketball have to deal with I haven’t seen that ever?

He didn't try to play last year but I still think U of L would have check his eligibility status because who paid his tuition, room and board, etc. Was he on scholarship? Did he pay his own way? I may not want to know the answer....

I get that but he had to enter the portal with the intent to play. If there was any question, apparently there was, that should have been resolved while he sat out.

Eligibility is the 1st thing on the checklist.

Full recap on updated info:

- Khalifa's fifth year was this past season (three at Charlotte, one at BYU, one at Louisville

- although he only played in three.

- Waiver was to extend eligibility clock to six years (normally five) so that he could play a fourth year, and *NOT* medically related.

- Louisville/Khalifa could not file any waivers until after the end of this past season, and they *had* to file to extend the clock first, instead of simply filing a medical redshirt waiver.

Not much left for fans. Not jumping to conclusions who knows what will happen. We are getting a key player ruled ineligible in the Spring after the portal rush is pretty much done.

That explains it while also explaining the NCAA incompetence. Why would Louisville or any school be forced to wait until the end of the season? They should have been able to file for an extension in the fall because they knew he wasn’t going to play.

It is a unique situation but geez the NCAA approved the TE from Miami for his 8th year. They cherry pick way too often.

This is the kinda stuff that makes it hard for me to care about college sports anymore. At least the playoffs have been fun to watch, aside from the Cavs totally blowing it.

If what is said is true, it sounds more like a University issue rather than a Khalifa or NCAA one.... Someone did not know the protocol.

Unless I missed something, his first redshirt season was 2020-2021, the "covid year". For student-athletes that played, that year didn't count. So either it strangely is counting if it was used for a redshirt, or it counts if the player in question attends UofL now.

My sense is this may be more of an administrative issue by the NCAA. No one dislikes the NCAA more than me, but sometimes a decision like this is a result of an Administrative Review that results in an ineligible declaration without any consideration. Traditionally, the Appeal Process is successful, as extenuating circumstances are considered by a Committee that is generally sympathetic to the student athlete.

The BS just never seems to end with this program. It's maddening! We can never be sure of anything with this program except something negative and questionable will arrive out of nowhere.
