co-workers here who are livid and I've heard or read about 3 or 4 different accounts of the events.......I've heard two or three different players mentioned so does anyone out there know the facts and who it was and what the charges were?

I keep telling my coworkers that the Ole Miss player isn't totally innocentbut they say otherwise........If he went to jail, he did something...............

I saw the guy walk up to do his taunting. I saw the kid that pushed him. The kid admitted to pushing him first. Had the other guy admitted to being asked to back away, it is likely that neither would have went to jail. Cops didn't see it in action. They didn't press charges against each other; both went to jail for disorderly conduct. The cops did what they would have done with any skirmish at any location, not just this one.<div>
</div><div>There was a group of 15-20 people doing some taunting while standing on a short brick wall just outside the locker room where the visiting player family were awaiting the players while loading the buses (if you're looking toward the ticket will-call area, the family were to the right at the corner of the building). They were instructed by an officer to quite down and/or leave about 5min before the shoving took place. Ironically, the younger crowd quieted down while the cop spoke; however, an older gentleman (standing directly in front of the cop) yelled "the black bears suck" and put up a landshark hand gesture in his face. I noticed he was wearing some sort of pass around his neck, whatever that may tell you.</div><div>

The kid's mom had asked twice that the guy back away from her, as he was standing very close and she had no further way to move forward (security railing). You can't put your hands on somebody without the possibility of getting in trouble, but he did what anyone else on this board would have done had the roles been reversed. He was watching out for his mom.</div>

because there was a group of college aged guys standing on the brick wall singing they "Heeyyyyy! Go State!" Cheer. And I have no idea whether or not this has anything to do with the incident, but there was a small, white Ole Miss mom standing there in a pancho that was doing just as much taunting, finger pointing, and bad rhetoric than anything else that was coming from a State fan. So, perhaps that instigated things to escalate. I don't know...<div>
</div><div>I just know I kept walking because there was nothing going on that wouldn't go on at any other college campus during a rivalry. There were people yelling "Ole Miss Sucks" and "GTHOM" and doing our chants, but never once in the couple of minutes I was standing near that area, did I see anything out of a Mississippi State fan that would instigate violence. I did see an OM mom (or aunt, or cousin, or sister, or whatever...) start jawing with the college students for doing what college students anywhere will do, though.</div>

The guy who got shoved (the MSU fan) got up and came at the kid. Best I can remember, they wrestled to the ground. The player had a split upper lip, cut mostly straight up and down. I don't know if it was from a cowbell, ball point pen, letter opener, Blackberry, or a hot dog, but you don't get that kind of split lip from a bare knuckle.

and then that's when the skirmish began..........So, we have no eyewitnesses to anyone using a cowbell as a tool to assault an Ole Miss player........Don't get me wrong, the State fan(s)taunting are an embarrassment but like Joe said earlier, this is a lot different story than what's being talked about on the web and facebook and is lot different than the venom the Ole Miss faithful are spewing...........

Said players mom then flips him the bird and tells him to go hell as she spits on him. As MSU fan is walking away Mitch Hall jumps railing and tries to punch MSU fan, but MSU fan (luckily having taken 20 years of jujitsu) ducks the punch, jumps up using the nearby oak tree to flip over Mitch. Mitch then turns and tries to punch him again. This time MSU fan uses the wax on/wax off technique to block 3 consecutive punches and then he punches Mitch in face cutting his lip with his 1998 SEC West Champs ring.....
