Anyone got the scoop on what the 2012 Football Schedule will be?

Saw were it comes out next week. I wonder if we get A&M at home or on the road next year? SC was and away game for 2012 I figure we will have to play but will Tenn be held back one year with A&M on the schedule.

but the info leaked on mrsec awhile back had us dropping the SC away game for the A&M game, while keeping the TN home game.

There has since been some conflicting information showing that it's likely we get A&M at home, meaning we'd either need to keep the SC away game or flipflop the Tn series and play them on the road first....

So, ideally, it's looking like we are playing all 4 non-conference games first. Record padding and confidence building for the young guys before getting into the SEC slate. Should be 4-0 when (assuming) Auburn comes to Starkville...

Getting out of the early games against LSU and Auburn can not be overstated in how much it will help us going forward. Finally completely past the LT scheduling...

That makes for a killer 8-game stretch to close out the season. I like having maybe 2 of the first 3 be OOC games, then mix the other 2 in a little later in the season to give a couple of breathers from the conference games.

I just don't see how we can handle 8 SEC games in a row, even with a bye week mixed in.

Having the early SEC matchup is just as likely to help as hurt. Although we didn't take advantage of it, it helped two years ago. This year it hurt us. I think I'd prefer LSU up front. If we're not going to beat them, might as well get them out of the way earlier.

Had a guy tell me Monday night that MSU opens with TAMU as the first SEC game. Said he got that "inside information" from his neighbor whose last name is Hunt and this neighbor is a big MSU guy. He was emphatic that he has the scoop, so much so he wanted to put money on it. I'm hoping he's wrong for a couple of reasons.

three non-conference games to start the year and then a non-conference game before the Egg Bowl.

You want to start out with non-conference/weaker teams if you are MSU because we do not have as much depth as Bama/LSU/etc. so a hole for us is going to be a lot more glaring. We need those three games to figure some things out, get our back-ups some early playing time and build some depth for the SEC schedule and get our team some confidence. We walk a fine line of losing the teams confidence when we start out 1-2 every year.

The SEC schedule is tough no matter how it's done. There's no way around it. I'm just glad that our permanant opponent is UK- typically a resonably winnable game.

So, say our schedule should look something like this:

Jackson State
@ Tulane
Middle Tennessee State
Texas A&M
@Auburn
LSU
@Tennessee
@Kentucky
Alabama
@Arkansas
South Alabama
Ole Miss

And also remember- there are always going to be some teams like UT and Texas A&M that are going to be down or rebuilding.

I would expect that our home games next year would be 3 West games (Auburn, Arkansas, A&M) and our game with UK (yearly East home game) which was previously scheduled as a home game since we played there last year. I would expect that our away games would be 3 West games (LSU, Alabama, UMiss) and our return game to USC (yearly East away game). We get an East team at home when we play UK on the road and vice versa. Where these are place during the year may change, but this seems to be the best way to plug A&M and Mizzou into the schedule without much disruption.

Other teams in the SEC understand this. Bama played GA Southern, Auburn played Samford, Florida played Furman, South Carolina played Citadel. 17 playing Arkansas sandwiched between Bama and Mississippi. It's no wonder we never beat them.
