Anyone live in Bennett Hall recently?

My daughter is looking at dorms for her freshman year (2017) and she likes the look of Bennett. My wife and I were in Wilham back in the day and I liked the Colvin center being next door and more dining options close by.

Does anyone have any pros/cons for Bennett?

Bennett is across the street from the wrestling hall of fame right? I lived there for a year. It was ok but the basement suck as the plumbing would back up from time to time. About my only complaint.

I live in there from 2004-2006. I lived on the east side my first year and the central side my second. I, also, worked for residential life and know Bennett very well.

The major pros for me:

Cafeteria for lunch and dinner was always good.
Access to a 24/7 computer lab
Access to majority of the athletic events
Convenience Store inside was always nice
Desk staff (where I worked) is very convenient for mailing services, questions, etc.
Rooms were fantastic

Cons:
Location if you had classes on the west side of campus
Parking during basketball and football was a ***** if you had to leave for whatever reason

I live in there from 2004-2006

Man missed you by a year. I was there from 2003-2004 I think. Best part of this place the ease of being able to sneak stuff in compared to Kerr. We got my pet ball python in that was at least 5 1/2 feet at the time. No one ever cared either. Loved the food there also.

I loved living there. Working res life in Bennett had great perks with it being the football team's dorm too. Plenty of cheerleaders and equestrian women around. Plenty of "fun" was had when you have a little power.

I did have to bust xlk and Pena for the bike incident. That sucked ***.

Lived there in 94-95 in hallway with the basketball team. That was sweet.

We also had a ball python that used to escape constantly.

I remember Andre Richardson with a survival knife going after Alonzo Mayes one night.

I'm sure your daughter will be fine.

VMo, Billy Bajema, Shawn Willis were some of the best football players. Gabe Lindsay threw an awesome party out at the Harley davidson place. A lot of them were kinda jerks. Jon Cruz was the biggest *******.

After a football game, it was basically accepted that you could bring in as much beer as you wanted. I would recommend against pissing down the stairwell. You might have to make a poster explaining why that is a bad idea.

Willis was my neighbor my first semester...dude got handled in some super smash bros. then Donovan moved in there my second semester. Super nice guy. Majority of the football players are nice guys when around the regular student neighbors and stuff.

We only ever had problems with a select few. When I saw Coach Wickline at 5am...I knew someone was about to get their *** stomped. Did not like those days.

Bennett wasn't the nicest, but it wasn't the worst.
Best advice I'd give is generally base your housing around where her major/college office is. For an education major, you're literally walking across campus; Engineering North is much closer to Bennett, but farther away than Parker; etc....

Does 1975 counts as recent? I actually walked through it Saturday before the game. Looked a lot different but brought back a lot of good memories. Odd thing was it was almost totally deserted one hour before the game. I swear there were more people in the lobby at 2 AM in my day.

Which side of the building was he? East was renovated the longest ago compared to center and west. So, those may be considered messy?

I think they quit or went out of business maybe. Not 100% sure about that though. Seems like I remember hearing about it my first year on campus but not after that.

Holy crap you just fired up some long dead synapses in my brain. I cant begin to describe the joy I felt when waiting late at night on the couches in Wilhem and the pizza dude would walk through the door.

I probably consumed two hundred of those bad boys in my time there on campus (that's a very close estimate actually).

There's three down in Norman. In the early 2000s I remember hearing the Stillwater location closed abruptly, as in workers showing up to locked doors.

Oh, pizza shittle. Loved it.

Nothing like coming in after a 6 hour drunk at the Weed, slobbering, hungry, and calling up the shuttle.

But...the next day was usually rough. Usually at about 2 pm after a night out and some pizza shuttle...I would be on the hopper turning red whilst in the middle of a Valsalva maneuver...making something that could be described in terms of ice berg proportions (ya know, some above water, most underwater).

Followed by a healthy nap with a smile, rinse, repeat.

Pizza shuttle was the salve for striking out, coming home alone, and feeling ok about it because there just might be an awesome movie coming on HBO or skinemax about that time.

I think they got shut down for not paying sales tax. Pretty sure if you picked it up a 10" pepperoni was $3.

I remember this beta that was ****** up and to save $2 he drove to pizza shuttle instead of doing delivery and got a dui. He got pulled over right next to the beta house so some betas ran out there and got the pizza. I may or may not have eaten a piece.
