I might be in the minority but I really dont see us getting a better coach than what we have. We could improve our offense coach but not sure about the others.
I don’t really think it matters who we bring in. If you look over our history, while we have never had any sustained success, we have also never really had any prolonged periods of terrible seasons. We are for the most part mediocre with blips to really good seasons or really bad seasons.

Beamer isn't going anywhere. The one thing he has to fix is getting better coordinators. He's probably one of the better portal recruiting coaches out there. Does work hard but got to get guys better especially on the offensive side to coach.

The only reason Beamer might leave for VT is because it is much easier to win there. His current recruiting class is number 8 in the SEC. In the ACC, it would be ranked 4th. And unlike in this state where he has to compete with national Brand Clemson for the top players in the palmetto state, he would compete with Virginia for the best in that state. That is a huge difference. At SC, he is practically bordering national programs UGA, UT and Florida. Truthfully, the job at SC is way more difficult than the one at VT. Yeah, well you know, that's just like my opinion, man.

Yep, why Dabo would never leave for the Bama job.

Beamer will entertain the interest I'm sure. Things aren't getting easier in the SEC.
Maybe he realizes the hill is too steep here and would use this as an easy offramp as opposed to eventually getting canned. He could very easily explain going back to where his father was a legendary coach without looking like admitting defeat here.

But I don’t think he’s going anywhere.

Yeah I don't think VT would pony up more than what we're paying.

So aside from the surname, what exactly has SB done to distinguish himself as a front runner for the VaTech job.
Serious question.

The only thing he has to worry about here is his assistants causing him a burn out. Sooner or later he will figure it out but in the mean time it will be a lot of up and down football year to year.

What would VT (or Beamer) have to pay us if he left?

Anyone know?

I'd start with:

Win more games at the University of South Carolina than any other coach in 100+ years history in a more difficult ennvironment (NIL/Portal/Schedule) over a similar time frame.

Serious question… do we really still consider Florida to be a national brand? When’s the last time they were truly relevant in the SEC conversation? 2020 under Mullen when they backed their way into the SECCG? They haven’t been part of the championship conversation in the playoff era, that’s for sure.

I have no point really. It’s just funny to me how a program can continue to milk its national brand status 17 years after its last championship. SC has been relevant more recently than that.

Answering that serious question would only be met with derision.

What had Dabo done?

Eye of the beholder.

Hard to compare given the different conference. But by this time on his career, Dabo had won his division twice, his conference once, and instead of a 9 win season, had a 9 and 10 win season.

Then, this being their 5th year, Shane would need to match an 11 win mark set by Dabo, which i dont think we're going to do.

But again, any win total can be argued to be due to the conference.
