If we could hold a good 4th qtr lead, we would be 6-4, likely 7-4 heading into Clemson week with a good shot at 8-4 and a 9 win season w a bowl win.
But we arent. We blew 4th qtr leads vs Missouri, Bama and A&M. Laid a turd vs a very vulnerable LSU and still had a shot.
So WHY are we close? Is it bc we have lots of great players but coaching is the problem? Or do we have a very average roster but coaches who have us “so close” and we just need a few more recruits?
IMO coaching is more the reason we are falling short. Being less talented but well coached usually looks like consistency, a team who consistently is a tough out, loses close games, but the output usually looks consistent.
A great roster with bad coaching is highly inconsistent. Like how we can look like a top 10 team sometimes, or like a Division 3 team at others. Our OL is horrendous but look at their bios, all talented guys who were “All-Something” as HS players or at others colleges. They just look lost out there.
So frustrating. A first round QB and a defense that leads the SEC in forced turnovers yet we are garbage
