Benny Snell’s 469 rushing yards this season are the most by a UK player through the first seven games of his freshman season since 1993 (597)

Can you guess who had 597 rushing yards his freshman year in 1993 through the first seven games?

He was a beast, for the record I think Snell is going to be one of the all time greats here if he can stay healthy
I was 1 when he got over 1600+ yards in 1995. My dad still talks about that season even though we went 4-7. I wish we had Moe Williams on our team now. He would win Heisman. He should have in 1995.

I agree on Snell.

Wow, you are a youngin. I was in my early 30's. Yeah Moe Williams, George Adams, Artose Pinner, Sonny Collins, been some good backs come through here and I think Snell will be up there with them

It's crazy that we've had all of those good backs and no Heismans. Mind boggling.

Unfortunately UK hasn't had enough good teams to win any heisman awards.

Cobb probably would've been a heisman candidate if he played at an elite program.

That's the messed up thing. The award should go to the best player and thats it. No matter if his team went 0-12 or 12-0.

I was at UK in '93 and remember well. Moe was an absolute beast of a running back.

If Snell is going to be as good or better (and it certainly looks like that may be the case), we are really going to enjoy the next couple of years. Especially since Snell has more talent around him.

Moe was (is) a good guy too and very approachable. Snell appears to have a similar personality.

Moe was definitely a great talent. It came down to UK & UGA in his recruiting (they genuinely wanted him), and UK was able to get him. I hated to see him leave early.

As for Snell, he has good speed but not elite speed. He's got great power and is so hard for just one guy to bring down. He also seems to have "it" like Randall Cobb. He has a bright future and if he stays healthy and continues to develop, I have no doubt he'll make it to the NFL.

Snell has an outside shot at Moe's Freshman rushing yds.
Is that the all time UK Fr. mark?

Benny Snell fact - he is a beast of a running back that we rarely see the likes of at UK. When he got that TD, I thought it was Boom because he hit the hole so fast. If UK had 22 Benny's, we would win the SEC.

Snell is very good and will only get better. I'd like to see him involved some in the passing game.

Snell reminds me of Moe in his running style as well.
Moe is fairly tall for a RB but he had great speed. He tended to run a little bit standing up, but he was fast and strong enough to make guys miss and run them over if need be.

Snell is not quite as fast as Moe, but he's got more power, and he shows a lot heart and desire to not want to be tackled - kind of like Cobb.

If you watch Snell's short TD, I think it was against Vandy, from the end zone view when he kicks away from a would be tackler, you get a good look at his leg strength. In slow motion, you can see his power. He does not have short legs for his stature. He is proportional, powerful and well balanced. That power with his leg kick and determination amounts to extra yards. He also has a compact strong torso. Go back to fall camp when he was met for a loss and a big hit in practice. Gran ran out to praise him for taking that hit and not losing the ball. He has skills, piston legs and ball protection, that you often don't see until a player matures after a couple of years. He is an elite freshman. I don't know his ceiling, but for a frosh, he could play on any team, IMO. If he is not a 4 star player as a freshman, then there are no five star RBs.

I vaguely remember someone telling me that Moe Williams did not lose a fumble in his career at U.K. Can one of you old timers confirm or debunk that?

Throw in Mark Logan and Mark Higgs and you've got some pretty good backs, all pros and all from KY. I know Moe went to High School in GA but he started at Crawford Jr. High School. Shout out to my Cougars!

Moe was good but no way was he better than Eddie George who won the Heisman in 1995. George rushed for almost 2,000 and averaged almost 150 yards per game and also had 400 receiving yards that year.

Snell is just under 500 yards so far on the year. What is the guess of his final yardage on the season? His touches are going up so there is a chance he can crack 1000 yards as a freshman. I REALLY hope he breaks 1000 but Im guessing he ends up around 900 yards.

Snell is faster than his big frame appears....
