Just to start a little discussion, what do you think is the biggest other bowl game out there and why?

I'll go with the Cotton Bowl and Arkansas-Kansas St. First it looks to be a good game between two good teams, better than some of the BCS bowls in its own right. But it's also going to have a huge say on how legitimate the BCS championship rematch is going to be seen nationally. If Arkansas wins, people are going to say that once again the Big 12 didn't live up to its regular season hype in the bowls and there's not too much question that LSU and Bama are the 2 best teams. If Kansas St. wins, people are going to say the SEC was just a 2 team league and Bama looked better than they really were because they didn't face the competition week in week out that Oklahoma St. did. I think Arkansas wins by at least 10 points.

If Okie State blows Stanford away there'll be a lot of whining from the SEC haters. If Stanford keeps it really close or wins, we can all move on and live in peace.

Stanford vs Oklahoma - Luck and Weeden should put on a show.<div>

I think Okie St. is going to just be too much for Stanford, but it should be a pretty good game. It would have been real nice to at least have a +1 this year. We could have seen LSU vs. Stanford in the Sugar/Orange bowl and Bama vs. Okie St. in the Fiesta/Rose bowl, then match up the 2 winners. There'd be absolutely no question about who the legitimate national championis then.

Let me premise this response with saying that I believe in Coach Dan, and I believe that he speaks the truth about desiring to stay in Starkville for the immediate future. Furthermore, unlike (a few) others on the board, I would HATE to see Coach Dan leave after all the life he is breathing into our program - we are updating facilities, filling the stadium, pissing off our rival, and making bowl games.

BUT, if Coach Dan decides to leave Starkvegas in the near future, I get the impression that we'd want Hudspeth to come on up to God's Country immediately. That makes the R+L Carriers Bowl a huge bowl game for that reason. Hudspeth showed the country what a great HC he is and that he can take a program to new heights even with limited resources. And because of that, he won't be around in Lafayette for more than one more year (pending another successful year for the Ragin'Cajuns).

That brings me to my point - Hudspeth is now going to be on a lot of "big programs" radars...and he might not be there if Stricklin needs him in 3 years or so. So, it's just another game for the rest of the country (aside from those in Lafayette), but for us Bulldogs the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl may be this year's biggest/"most influential on Our State" bowl game.

Probably be the only time any players coached by Hugh Freeze make it to a Bowl Game.

( I kid, I kid, Cotton and Fiesta for reasons stated)
