On Zack Sanchez:
"Zack has a sprained ankle, but it is not broke, fortunately. That's what we feared initially. Confirmed that it was not broke so it'll be the usual to see how it takes to heal."

That's great news. Sit him out for Kansas and Iowa state and have him healthy for November run
I hate to ruin your evening, but more times than not a sprain ends up lingering. So depending on the severity of the sprain, Sanchez could actually be a liability out there, even in November.

High ankle is what I was diagnosing after watching the trainers mess with it on the field and then him coming out in the boot.

Yeah, FWIW I was listening to JD Runnels talking about it on the animal last night.
Could be that one week and he'll be good enough to play...then again, could be weeks of time and healing.

A lot of variables involved. Pigeon holing his recovery wouldn't be fair to anyone.

I've read where a high ankle sprain can take longer to heal and the effects of the sprain can linger well after the player has returned even though he's not feeling 100%. I do hope Sanchez will recover quickly, but I feel really good about the way Dakota Austin played in his place.

His INT in the end zone right before halftime was HUGE! Tech briefly had gained some momentum off our two turnovers and was moving to score a third time when Austin got his pick. I think that really took the wind out of their sails especially when OU got the ball to open the 2nd half and drove it down their throats for a score. Plus, the guy was rock solid when tackling. He did not miss a tackle all day and no yards after the catch. Nice job by Dakota.

Had a pretty bad high ankle sprain which I hurt coming down blocking a vball spike. I was down about 3 weeks. But had to wrap it for about 2 months until it was all the way stable. With good OU Trainers...he may be playing quicker than 3 weeks. We need Bond and Evans back too. Rest them against KU and Iowa St. Keep up the good work Shannon and Lindley.

Big mistake most make is to immobilize for too long. Using temperature therapy early, with anti inflammatory meds, wrapping it for support, and then making the connective tissue work without getting stiff is really the quickest way. It means some pain and todays kids abhor pain. We will see but if he can do the treatment he will be back just fine in 3 weeks.

Not to belittle or make light of Sanchez's injury, I guess it's better that it happened now with KU and ISU coming up next. Hopefully he'll be close to 100% by the time OU goes to Baylor.

Definitely if there was an injury to flare up...it came at a good stretch of games. We will need him for at least 2 of the last 3 games. Best of luck Zack as you get healed up. Dakota Austin did perform well in his first action and against formidable receivers.
